Loving What I Read

September22

I love receiving awards and I especially love receiving awards from my sister! Wowzers! She loves my blog. Thanks Lynne. In case you don’t know, my sister is The Sewing Mom. Yep, she is that great blogger who juggles being a great mom, terrific writer and making beautiful sewing projects. Here is the award she bestowed on me and this blog. Photobucket

Here is how this award works:

1. The winner can put the logo on his/her blog;
2. Link the person you received your award from;
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs;
4. Put links of those blogs on yours; and
5. Leave a message on the blogs that you’ve nominated.

Seven of my favorite blogs:
1. Daisy the Curly Cat This cat looks at life from a cat’s point of view. Very interesting and fun blog.
2. Michael’s So-Called Life Michael is a great writer who loves politics and has definite opinions about things. I enjoy comparing notes with him.
3. Damien writes from his heart on Postcards from the Funny Farm.
4. Sara has been keeping us up to date with life in New Orleans on News from Nola
5. The Natural State Hawg is where I get my sports updates as well as what the government is messing up on these days. Uncle Hawg has a great view of life.
6. If you want the inside scoop on how a mom copes with raising twins, Mommy Brain Reports is the blog to read.
7. Leigh on Thoughtprints, is passionate about many subjects. Her views on political issues have me pondering both sides of what is happening.

Win from Table for Five

June10

In this age of communicating with our computers, iPods and cell phones, it is easy to forget the art of letter writing. I love to write a note using beautiful stationery. Elizabeth over at Table for Five is giving away a beautiful box of stationery. This beautiful stationery is from Paperlicious and has a retail value=$19.99 plus shipping. Social Stationery is available in fresh, hip, retro designs that will be a joy to write on. The receiver will love the quality and beauty of the card. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love shoes. I simply must have these wedge heel note cards! Head over to Table for Five and leave a comment. You might win! If you win, I will have to buy my note cards.

It Makes You Go Hmmm

December27

Have you changed the way you feel about things since you began reading blogs? I have strong feeling on certain things but I don’t always know why I feel the way I do. Was I born with the feelings or did I learn them. When did I decide that I felt certain ways about marriage, religion, politics and other subjects? The Internet has given me a safe place to check out how other people feel about things. I hate confrontation so I shy away from debates in public arenas. I do enjoy hearing both sides of an issue when I can read about it online.

I came across an interesting blog called formykountry that deals with all sorts of topics. The author comes from a very different background than the one I came from. That makes it all the more interesting to me! I particularly enjoyed one article. #50-10 dealt with the standard set of questions that the Catholic Church asked couples when they were preparing for marriage. Hubby and I had to go through that in our church. We were asked what our thoughts were on raising children, birth control and financial ideas just to name a few. The article, Sex or Ice Cream, dealt with a hypothetical situation in which you were stranded on a desert island. I won’t tell you about the rest of the article so that you can see how the question was set up and the rules were put into play. All I will say that it makes you think!

The writing on this blog comes from all different angles and covers a vast array of subjects. It is a wonderful blog to get your mental juices flowing. Check it out.

Add Me to Technorati The Easy Way

April29

We have all been trying to save [tag]blogs [/tag] that we enjoy reading. At [tag]Technorati[/tag] you can have them all in one place. That makes it so much easier to see who has updated. The trouble for me has been taking the time to add those who have favorited me to my favorites. This has been made so much simpler.

Read this post, which I wrote, on the My Road blog, for a cool, easy to use program. Commenting and making friends with other bloggers increases our page ranks and enables us to [tag]make money on the internet [/tag]. For me, when my page rank goes up, I will have more opportunities to write ads for [tag]PayPerPost[/tag].

Why This Blog is Important

April8

BSN, a fellow postie, asked some of us why we [tag]write[/tag] the blog we work on. That got me thinking about my reasons for writing this [tag]blog[/tag].

For one, I needed a place to keep [tag]track[/tag] of what I read. I have read so many books and it irks me to start a [tag]book[/tag] and find out that I’ve already read it. Some books I want to read more than once but only if I choose to.

Secondly, I feel like I can never quit [tag]learning[/tag]. There is always something out there that I’d love to know. I just need to search and find out what it is.

Thirdly, and these are not in order of importance, I relax when I read. I go into the character’s world so I seem to tune out everyday [tag]life[/tag]. A funny book can put me in a good mood or cheer me up. I don’t like to read [tag]depressing[/tag] books.

Fourth, I want to tell everybody when I have read a good book. I can’t keep it to myself and want to share.
