Frustrated
I hate to be a whiner but I have had so much trouble making my log cabin quilt. I purchased the fabric as a kit when I was in Pigeon Forge at the Mountain Quiltfest. The vendor had the quilt hanging on display and I fell in love with it. You know that they won’t let you take pictures of the quilts for fear you will go home and make it without buying their pattern and fabric but I wish I had snuck a picture. I want to see what the heck they are talking about in the directions included in the kit.
When I try to remember what the quilt looked like, I think I was drawn to it because the pieces making up the log cabin pattern were wide. The pattern told me to cut the fabric in two inch strips but I think the vendor made hers from 2 1/2 inch strips. If only I hadn’t cut all the fabric, I could have changed the width. I didn’t notice the difference until I had made several blocks.
The fabric is civil war reproduction fabric. Most of the pieces are very dark and I am having trouble getting the blocks to show the overall pattern. Without a true light vs dark block the pattern doesn’t show up.
Call me frustrated.

Looks like you’re off to a great start.
oh.. i wish I have the patience to do the quilting. I have my crochet project right now and I cant seem to finish it now that I am into blogging. I started doing the square pieces back when it was still fall and until now, its still not finish. I was able to make a huge blanket though and a small one for my daughter.
Hopefully I will finish this one before the next fall and winter comes.. wish me luck!
