Ordering Greeting Cards

April2

I have a confession to make. I have stopped making my own greeting cards. When we first got a computer, I bought some software and made my own cards. The trouble is that I didn’t make a record of which card I sent to whom and I wouldn’t want to duplicate a card so I am afraid to send anymore. Besides that, printer ink is so expensive. It is so economical to order birthday cards online when I get them from Cardsdirect.com. They have a wonderful selection of cards. I love that they have cards appropriate to send to the male species. Whenever I go to the card shop, I stand there and become frustrated. They never have cards that are appropriate to give a guy. Not all men are sports or hunting enthusiasts. Just look at this beautiful card. Any man would love to receive that.

The money I save in gas is worth the few seconds it takes to order greeting cards from Cardsdirect.com. Gas prices keep going up and it is time to really think about getting more done online. I find it much easier than fighting for a parking place and trying to talk myself out of purchasing other items when I am in a store. The time I save is another thing. Time is better spent making quilts!

Frustrated

April2

PhotobucketI hate to be a whiner but I have had so much trouble making my log cabin quilt. I purchased the fabric as a kit when I was in Pigeon Forge at the Mountain Quiltfest. The vendor had the quilt hanging on display and I fell in love with it. You know that they won’t let you take pictures of the quilts for fear you will go home and make it without buying their pattern and fabric but I wish I had snuck a picture. I want to see what the heck they are talking about in the directions included in the kit.

When I try to remember what the quilt looked like, I think I was drawn to it because the pieces making up the log cabin pattern were wide. The pattern told me to cut the fabric in two inch strips but I think the vendor made hers from 2 1/2 inch strips. If only I hadn’t cut all the fabric, I could have changed the width. I didn’t notice the difference until I had made several blocks.

The fabric is civil war reproduction fabric. Most of the pieces are very dark and I am having trouble getting the blocks to show the overall pattern. Without a true light vs dark block the pattern doesn’t show up.

Call me frustrated.
