Four Foods on Friday #13
Can it possibly be Friday already? Val at Fun, Crafts and Recipes has posted her Four Foods on Friday questions and I have responded as follows:
#1. Cold cuts. Prepackaged or sliced fresh at the deli counter?
I cannot stomach prepackaged lunch meat. I love shaved ham from the deli. My usual order is shaved ham and slices of colby cheese.
#2. Which ingredient reduces acidity in red sauce? Corn syrup, molasses or brown sugar.
I am guessing brown sugar because anything red I have made usually calls for brown sugar. I had no idea the reason to add it.
#3. Whipped cream. Fresh, canned or frozen?
I love the taste of whipping cream out of the can but usually buy the cool whip type.
#4. How do you make pea soup? If you don’t, share a recipe that you use peas in.
I don’t make pea soup but I make Layer Salad that has peas in it.
I call it layer salad because you layer all the ingredients.
In the bottom of a large bowl layer about an inch of shredded lettuce.
Add the following: bacon bits, diced onion, chopped celery
Cover with a layer of frozen peas (about 10 ounces). Sprinkle seasoning salt over the top of the peas. Spoon in a layer of Miracle Whip to cover the peas. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and cover. Store in the refrigerator over night. Toss before serving.

[…] Karen has shared a recipe called Layer Salad that uses peas. Does the Miracle Whip stay in a layer? Karen writes some interesting stuff, but I’m sure glad she doesn’t include these in the layer salad!!! […]

It is easy. It doesn’t look so great after the first go around of eating but it still tastes great.

I rarely cook either! It isn’t the cooking I mind, it is the cleaning up part that I detest.
