Use Spock
I have been looking for a search engine that is more in tune with my needs. I have discovered that so many times I want to find an answer but don’t know how to search for it. I would like to use keywords like the color of someone’s hair or something distinct about a person and find information. I think I finally found the search engine that will do just that. Spock is a free people and info search engine that uses tags to find information. Once you find a person who’s profile is of interest, simply use tag words and find more people with that tag. You will be amazed to find people related through tag words.
Another cool thing about Spock is that you have the option to add pertinent information to people’s profiles. If you’re not already profiled on Spock, you can create a page for yourself. If you happen to find yourself but you haven’t registered, you can claim your profile.
I can have fun looking for the latest celebrity arrested for drunk driving if I want to do that. I can find out how many celebrities are active in a particular fundraiser. I can even find out who is supporting the writers in the television writer’s strike.
Let me show you how it works. First, I signed up. That was super simple and again, it was free.
In fact, I had signed up a while back because I wanted to find out something about one of my favorite soda companies.
So…I entered the word Hollywood and found all kinds of fun things First on the list was the author of an amazing book. I was so glad I picked Hollywood for my random search. I have been wanting to read Dossier, The Secret Life of Armand Hammer, ever since I heard about it on the Oprah show. I didn’t write down the name and gave up ever remembering the title. Now I can finally get this book.
Another interesting result from my search was Jesse James Hollywood. I have this weird obsession for reading crime stories and this guy has an interesting list. He is wanted for murder. Yikes. I’m going to put his picture here because he is on the FBI most wanted list. Maybe one of you will see him and turn him in.![]()
Turn that guy in if you run across him.
See the wild things you can find when you start using Spock? It is so much fun.

Great post on Spock.com - Spock is useful for searching people. Sure you can look up people on Google but you will most likely get a mixed bag of results in terms of relevant information. With Spock you can search by a number of different means and you’ll only get people instead of a link to a newspaper article about someones 400 time in high school. With Spock you can contribute information and add links to other places you are on the Web. There are also pictures and news feeds which can be fun to play around with.

I like them because you can add to the information. I added to a site on a composer. He is the brother of a friend of mine. I was able to add some information and make the site more valuable.

Spock is a really cool new ‘people search engine’ I have heard about this site before, but when I went to search for myself, it couldn’t find me…. which is weird, since I have a domain with my name and I have a myspace account. oh well. It’s still a very handy tool…
Here’s another good post about Spock: http://www.michaellundberg.com/2008/01/08/spock-continues-to-grow/
