It Makes You Go Hmmm

December27

Have you changed the way you feel about things since you began reading blogs? I have strong feeling on certain things but I don’t always know why I feel the way I do. Was I born with the feelings or did I learn them. When did I decide that I felt certain ways about marriage, religion, politics and other subjects? The Internet has given me a safe place to check out how other people feel about things. I hate confrontation so I shy away from debates in public arenas. I do enjoy hearing both sides of an issue when I can read about it online.

I came across an interesting blog called formykountry that deals with all sorts of topics. The author comes from a very different background than the one I came from. That makes it all the more interesting to me! I particularly enjoyed one article. #50-10 dealt with the standard set of questions that the Catholic Church asked couples when they were preparing for marriage. Hubby and I had to go through that in our church. We were asked what our thoughts were on raising children, birth control and financial ideas just to name a few. The article, Sex or Ice Cream, dealt with a hypothetical situation in which you were stranded on a desert island. I won’t tell you about the rest of the article so that you can see how the question was set up and the rules were put into play. All I will say that it makes you think!

The writing on this blog comes from all different angles and covers a vast array of subjects. It is a wonderful blog to get your mental juices flowing. Check it out.

The Book Store

December27

Today, the kids and I spent the afternoon in the bookstore at the mall. I love that store! Apparently, so do my kids. Stacy is a list maker like me. I write down all the books I have read and all the ones I would like to read. I have done that since the time I settled in on a flight, opened my book and discovered I had already read that book. I was so irritated at myself for forgetting. I began making a list of books as I had already done for some time with movies. I never could remember if I had seen a movie or not.

Stacy bought a Ray Bradbury book. I remember reading Fahrenheit 451 my sophomore year of high school. It would be fun to read it again. Stacy said it is uncanny how many things have come into play that Ray Bradbury talked about in his book so many years ago.
