Froggy Out of Place

October23

The other morning, I heard the dogs barking and I got up to check what all the commotion was about. I never did see or hear anything but in order to not wake hubby, I laid down in the family room and tried to go back to sleep.

My eyes wandered over to the window as I saw something move on the screen. I thought that it was funny that leaf would move like what I was seeing. Turns out it was not a leaf. It was a frog! How that frog got clear up there is anyone’s guess. LOL I watched it for a long time. It would stretch it’s legs out and move like it was trying to decide which way to go. Finally it jumped down. I could only think that it thought it was on a amusement park ride or something. It looked so funny.

Support for a Better You

October22

A few years ago, Lynn and I decided to eat healthy. Not only were we interested in losing weight, we wanted to feel better. We did it together and it was great. We exercised and planned our groceries so that we had our meals all planned out. It worked because we supported each other.

If you are thinking about starting a healthier plan for living, my recommendation is that, you become involved in a support group. Get involved with someone online who can encourage you. www.weightcircles.com is a wonderful weight loss community for motivation and support. They have members who need to be encouraged and are waiting for you to come and encourage them too! This is a real site. It is not a “diet” site that wants you to purchase things. It does not promote fast ways to lose weight. It promotes healthy weight loss. This site wants to connect people and by being connected, help people to become healthier and happier.

Take Care of It

October22

Does it seem like you need to pound customer service over the head to get anything done these days? I think that when you buy a product and it doesn’t work, you should take it back. If you take it back the same day or at the latest, the next day, you should not incur any fees. Do you think this is the way it should work?

A certain wireless cell phone company wants to charge $45.00 for turning the service on. Even though the service did not work!

A simple phone call should be enough to take care of the charge but noooo, now we have to call again because we are receiving past due statement. Grrrr. I do not have time for this! Do your job People!

Financing Your Business

October21

I love watching the food network and being invited into all the restaurants. It makes me feel good to see a happy restaurant owner. They enjoy what they do! If you have always thought about owning your own restaurant, you should check with ARF for Restaurant Financing. They can help you get the financing needed even if you have less than perfect credit. ARF helps businesses large and small to obtain restaurant and other types of business loans. Let them help you make your dream come true! Maybe I’ll be seeing you on the food network!

Turner and Hootch

October21

Today, hubby and I watched the movie, Turner and Hootch. That is a great movie! I had forgotten so many parts of that movie and was so glad to watch again. I forgot about all the drool that dog had. Oh my goodness! Tom Hanks was so young and skinny when he made that movie.

A Sad Fact

October19

On a sad note, I am concerned about a friend of mine. Her son is, once again, involved in drinking alcohol to wash away his troubles. I feel so bad for my friend. She doesn’t know where to turn. Her son has been in group therapy ordered by the court. It must not have helped.

There needs to be a center that can work with this young man and meet his specific needs. He does very well for a while and then something happens in his relationship with his girlfriend and he feels the tug to turn to alcohol. His job isn’t very steady either. I think that has something to do with his problem. He needs some stability or at least learn how to cope with the things he has to deal with in life.

Cliffside Malibu alcohol rehab in Malibu, works with each client on an individual basis. They realize that one-size-fits-all programs do not work with everyone. I sure wish my friend’s son would get help there.

On their website, they talk about the fact that, “alcohol rehab, when it works, works because it recognizes and addresses the needs of individual alcoholics. Short of that, no other alcohol rehab methodology could ever get you where you need to go.” He needs a place that works with that type of understanding.

If someone you know needs help, tell them to call Cliffside Malibu at 800-501-1988 to find out how they can help.

Sew, Sew, Sew

October19

Mom and I didn’t make it to the Museum of Art on my afternoon off from work. We sewed away the afternoon! I thought we might be getting caught up but then we went to our quilt guild meeting last night!

We are to find fabric to make a snowman wall hanging. It is very cute and will be fun to make. Luckily, we are doing most of the cutting during our meeting. I want to finish these purses and my table runner! Then there is the new jelly roll I bought sitting there beckoning to be cut and made into something pretty.

Maintaining Good Health

October18

Each of us should look into how to take care of our family in case of an emergency. We should talk about fire safety and set up a plan. Everyone should know where the number is for the poison control center. We should also have heart rate training so we know what to do if someone has a heart attack.

Lynn and I have taken CPR classes. I hope the information kicks in when and if I need it! It is good to take refresher classes. The following video is an important source of information about heart rate monitors.

Did you know there are 5 Great Reasons to Wear a Heart Rate Monitor?

1. A heart rate monitor is a great tool to watch your heart rate when you exercise. I know that I need an incentive to push a bit harder and get my heart rate up. A heart rate monitor can help you find the right pace and intensity of exercise to achieve your goals.
2. Wearing a heart rate monitor helps you reach your goal when trying to lose weight.
3. Wearing a heart rate monitor makes the most of your exercise time. Why waste time exercising if you aren’t pushing hard enough to make it work?
4. It makes sure you stay within the boundaries of your heart rate. You do not want to overdo it and get into trouble!
5. Having control over your heart rate with a monitor allows you to be your own coach. You can watch the monitor as well as a pro!

It is not cumbersome to wear a heart rate monitor. In fact, there are very nice looking clothes with the monitor built right into them. There are pretty exercise tank tops with it built in. There are also straps and heart rate monitor built into wristbands. They are very sheik and very easy to use!

For more information, check out the website at www.numetrex.com. Stay healthy!

Halloween Quilt

October18

Since Halloween is going to be here soon, I thought it would be fun to show the quilt I made. This is a wall hanging. I had always wanted to make something with the tumbling block pattern. This was easy because the blocks are big. The material has halloween things on it like, spiders, spider webs, etc. I almost forgot to get it out this year. I was digging in my stash to find some burgundy material for the table runner binding.

Employees Gifts

October17

Having been in the business over twenty five years has some drawbacks. What do you get your employees for Christmas each year? Every year we try to come up with something unique. It is becoming harder each year. Our employees must like us! They stick around!

Someone suggested looking at cruiser bicycles. I had no idea what they were talking about until I checked online at xyzbikes.com. Cruiser bicycles are so cool! One of our employees has a young grandson that is at a good age to take on bicycle rides. I think a cruiser bicycle would be a great thing to have when they vacation. Cruiser bicycles are in our budget! In fact they are a lot less than I expected. I think a cruiser bicycle is an excellent idea!
