Privacy Act

October8

I have a problem with the privacy issue and kids in college. Under federal law, colleges are barred from sharing information in a student’s record, including grades or disciplinary actions without the student’s permission. This was so frustrating when my kids were beginning college. I wanted to know how they were doing. It wasn’t until a class was over that I was able to see a grade. It is a little late at that point. I was footing most of the bill and feel I should have been given access to this information. I think some changes need to be made.
