I went with mom today to Grissom. The Air Force base is no longer there but they do offer services to retirees. It was odd to drive down the streets where I spent my teenage years. The base has been converted to buildings that hold many types of businesses. I’m not sure what they all are. I know that in one building, they refurbish the wheels from trains. We didn’t go into the housing area. We stayed on the fenced in side where the officers club and hospital used to be. The hospital is now a nursing home and the officers club is a center where receptions for weddings and reunions are held.
