Heat Stroke
A local business man’s son passed away. The obituary gave no indication as to how he died. He was only 34 and had just accepted a new job. He had a young family. We were perplexed but didn’t know the family well enough to ask questions. Yesterday, Lynn’s brother mentioned that Mr. Holme’s son had died of heat stroke. He had been to a ball game and got over-heated. He got a rash so he took some Benadryl and went to bed. He never woke up.
Two weeks ago when our son, Greg, was moving furniture on those 90 degree days that we had, he got over-heated and got a rash. He called me and I told him to take some Benadryl. The fact that Mr. Holme’s son died has me freaking out. I wonder if there was another condition that was involved. Maybe he had heart problems.

That is so scary! I have a rash, mostly on my arms & legs, but a little on my face and neck too. I believe it’s heat rash which would make sense since I was taking our new puppy outside every 10-15 minutes in the 110 degree temperatures last week. There was no escaping it. Somebody suggested I use a powder on it but I haven’t tried it yet. Hadn’t thought about using Benadryl, but I definitely won’t use it after reading your post.
I found out that the fellow had a history of allergic problems and was supposed to carry an epi pen with him where ever he went. He was driving his wifes car and didn’t have his epi pen at the hotel in Chicago where he stayed. This probably could have been prevented if he’d gone to the doctor when he felt ill.
