Cat Is In the Know

July26

There is a cat at the Steerhouse nursing home in Providence, Rhode Island who knows when people are ready to die. He senses their need so he jumps up and stays beside the person to comfort them while they die. His name is Oscar. He isn’t considered a grim reaper but instead is looked upon as a comforter. It is uncanny! He has been correct 25 times. He helps people know that someone is with them.

Another Modern Marvel

July26

Mom is out in the state of Washington visiting her sister. Another sister and her husband drove up from California. They had fun attending a family reunion last weekend.

Today they are going for a drive to check out the new Narrows Bridge. The existing Tacoma Narrows Bridge was designed to carry 60,000 cars daily and now it carries approximately 90,000 a day. I guess that there were 3-4 hour traffic jams daily because of all the traffic. The new bridge was started in 2002 and was just recently completed. Both bridges are being used. One way traffic travels on each bridge.

Honoring Time

July26

Once upon a time, 33 years ago, two geeky kids got married. They bought a house and spent much of their time painting a scrubbing to make the house a home. They had children and enjoyed all the things that raising a family can bring.

Here they are 33 years later and are contemplating what to do in a few years that would be special to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.

They are talking about a cruise to Alaska or a nice grandfather clock for their home. Perhaps a gift of a beautiful set of pearls would be appropriate to mark the event.

No matter what they choose they know that the years have gone fast and they have been blessed.

Who Cares About Lindsay Lohan?

July25

I am so tired of hearing about [tag]Lindsay Lohan[/tag]. If she isn’t doing [tag]drugs[/tag] then her press manager is telling her to act like she does to get attention. If she is doing drugs then she is sending a bad message to all the kids who adore her. [tag]Lindsay[/tag] is acting like a spoiled brat. She should be sent to a [tag]rehab[/tag] facility far away from home and left to rot until she gets her act together. So many people have problems that they didn’t bring upon themselves. I hate to see all the resources she draws from and the people who need the [tag]hospital[/tag] bed can’t get it because she is taking up space.

I wish they would stop paying actors so much and start giving the [tag]money[/tag] to scientist. I’ll bet they would know how to handle the money and fame.

Beautiful Homes

July25

One of the most innovative builders of log homes is the Vermont Timber Company. They don’t use the traditional spec home plan. They don’t even want to be considered in the same niche with an assembly line home. They are the architects and builders of unique, beautiful log homes. The integrity of their work keeps customers coming as old clients tell potential customers how happy they are with their Vermont Timber home. Timber Works began in 1987. In those days the timber home was built from start to finish. Today, they are more specialized as they work with other architects and builders to build a custom home for each client. You will find pictures of some of these homes on their website. The homes are awesome. If you are considering a timber home, check out the website. If you are not considering building, check it out anyway! You will enjoy looking at the beautiful homes and settings that each one has that makes it unique.

Etiquette in the Workplace

July25

Have you ever had to co-exist with a worker that drove you bonkers? I have never had a problem like that and I think it is because I am very easy going. I choose to let something bother me. If someone smacks their gum and I think about it all the time it could drive me up a wall. I choose not to let it bother me.

There are some co-workers who make life difficult. There are brown nosers and co-workers who intentionally turn things around to make themselves look good. If they aren’t honest and don’t play on a fair field, they make it hard to live with their antics. Would it bother you if someone had body odor or smelled of nicotine? Those things would bother me. I am lucky because I never worked closely with people who had those problems.
This article from CNN gives tips on how to deal with an annoying co-worker. It also gives suggestions as to when to go to the boss with a problem. It gives some good information even if you don’t work with others. These tips would be helpful in situations at church or with confronting a daycare worker.

Rotisserie Cooking

July25

When I want a healthy meal, I get a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. I put a whole sweet potato in the microwave for 12 minutes and warm up some green beans. That is as very healthy meal. It doesn’t have a lot of carbs but does have the protein I need. I love anything cooked on a rotisserie. It cooks meat so slowly that all the juices remain and keep the meat tender.I have learned that vertical rotisseries work in much the same way except that they allow the chef to grill different pieces of meat since the pieces hang from hooks.

At rotisolusa.com you can see all the different types of rotisseries that there are from which to make a selection. For the restaurant that wishes to display what they are cooking and have the customer’s mouths watering, the glassed front rotisseries are a great marketing tool. There are choices of enamel to make and a variety of options of spiits themselves are available. You can choose from the type of spit that would work best depending on the size and type of bird you are wanting to roast.

Whether you want a rotisserie for your home or one for a business, Rotisolusa is the place you need to utilitze. Their customer service record stands for itself. You won’t be disappointed when you buy from them.

NearVision CK

July25

Wish me luck. I’m headed to the eye doctor to watch a video and get information on Near Vision CK. I’ve been carrying around reading glasses and am just about ready to get a chain to wear them around my neck. I always thought that was the time when I would feel old. I swore I would never wear a plastic rain bonnet or wear my glasses around my neck. I’ve lost so many pair of glasses that I am to the point of having no choice but to find a pretty chain to hold my glasses.

Unless, I think CK is what I should have done. My optometrist feels like I am the perfect candidate for the procedure. He said that people who have had Lasik are better candidates than those who haven’t. They aren’t sure why.

CK changes how the eye focuses light by reshaping the surface of my eye (cornea). When the shape is changed, light can be refocused on the correct part of my eye (retina). To produce this reshaping, NearVision CK uses the controlled release of radio waves to heat and shrink corneal tissue. This steepens the cornea and allows light to properly focus on the retina again.

Has anyone had this proceedure? What did you think?
