Tammy Faye Baker

July23

I just saw a disturbing tape of [tag]Tammy Faye Baker[/tag] that was filmed a few days before she died. I have to give her a lot of credit for getting in front of a camera to tell other people about her [tag]faith[/tag]. She must have felt very strong about her message to not care that people saw her in the condition she was in. She looked so bad that I was shocked. I thought it was a movie character until I heard her speak. She was amazing in her strength to tell of her love for the Lord even though she was in pain and was near death. That is how much her faith meant to her. I think that message can give all of us hope that we will be able to handle whatever comes our way.

Segways

July23

[photopress:segway.jpg,full,pp_image]When we were in Atlanta, GA a few years ago, we noticed that many of the policmen rode on segways. They look like they would be fun to ride. I would love to try one. I wonder if you have to balance it or if it falls over. I never have really looked at one up close. I did see where Indianapolis policemen were using them. I wonder what they do with one if they have to run after a crook. Maybe they have a sensor so that if someone steals it while they are cuffing someone, they can track it down.

Vacation Needed

July23

Wow! Did that last post sound grouchy? I think I need a vacation. I love to read about all the neat things going on at Disney World and am always dreaming about getting away to Florida. Disney News tells about interesting facts about the latest happenings at Disney World. Orlando vacation rentals have the information needed to plan the best possible vacation. They certainly know the best way to have a memorable vacation in Florida. I see, on their website that their recommended resorts are close to all the Disney them parks. I’m ready to check out the spa and wellness center at Reunion Resort. There are also beautiful golf courses as well as hiking and walking trails. After getting our walk in we could relax by the beautiful resort swimming pool. Yes, I think a trip to Florida is in my future.

Pet Proof

July23

I have had more customers come in and do what is one of my major pet peeves. They ask me for an animal proof carpet. You know what? If you don’t walk on a carpet it is never going to wear out. If you don’t let your animal on your carpet then it is animal proof. Grrr.

The lady this morning took the cake. She said their dog is not neutered because they use him to breed puppies. He likes to spray everything in the house. Can you imagine??? She wanted some pet proof carpet. LOL I moved her over towards the vinyl flooring display.

Watch Out When You Buy

July23

This morning I had two different couples come in to look at flooring. I had to get a feel for how much they thought new floor covering was going to cost. They were ready to jump right in and just pick what they wanted. They had no idea about the different qualities of carpet and whether what they were looking at would hold up for a year or ten. I’m glad they came to our store. I made an appointment to have hubby go out and look at the job. We can start there and know how much it will cost for the basics and move up from there.

I don’t fault young adults for their spending habits. I just try to help them get the most for their money because I know that they have to go into debt for things like their cars and homes. Debt is so easy to obtain these days. There must be a reason that there are so many bankruptcy notices listed in the classifieds. There is now what is known as an iva to help people who struggle to meet repayments on unsecured financial commitments. It is sad that there is a need for that.

With all the hype that influences people, it is easy to want everything they see. Not only that, they are told that it is ok to want it NOW. Easy access to credit is readily available to consumers and not enough information is taken to make sure the consumer can repay their credit. This in turn creates debt. The next thing these couples are having to learn about is a bad credit loan.

I don’t always try to help our customers with debt advice but sometimes I can’t help but try to guide them. I would hope that someone would do the same for my kids when they go to make a large purchase.

Time Flies

July23

I feel old. When hubby and I bought this business, I was 23 years old. It was fun being the young whipper snapper in the industry. The salesmen didn’t always think I knew what I was talking about so I had to prove myself. I tried not to let that bug me.

Now, the salesmen who walk into our store are my kid’s ages! Yikes.

I don’t know where the time has gone. It still feels like yesterday that I was selling yellow shag carpet! LOL

Fantasy Art Vol. III

July23

My daughter roomed with an art student while she was in college. I learned about all that goes into the different types of art because of all the things sitting around their apartment. Whether made with textures, or oils and acrylic each piece of artwork produced was an amazing evolution to watch as each creation unfolded. Fantasy Art at Mastersoffantasy.com reminds me of the type of art that Lacy painted. Each painting was a remarkable reflection of a spirit that she saw in what character she drew. This site has awesome art. The artists represented in the new Vol. III Fantasy Art series are amazing as they too, capture the spirit of what they see in their mind. Using both traditional and digital mediums as well as a wide variety of artistic styles and techniques, these pieces of art are going to blow you away. Take a look and see if you don’t agree.
