Elephant Ears

July20

Last night at our local street fair, I had an elephant ear. An elephant ear is a piece of dough that is rolled out and then deep fried. When it is done it is slathered with butter. Cinnamon and sugar are sprinkled on it to make it oh so yummy. Have you ever had one? I’ve heard them called different things. Some call them tiger ears. Our are called elephant ears because our town is celebrating their circus heritage.

The street was lined with vendors. It was hard to decide what to eat. There were breaded tenderloin sandwiches, foot long corn dogs, corn on the cob and home made swirled potato chips to choose from. For dessert you could have it all or choose from strawberry shortcake, frozen yogurt on a stick or caramelized apples. Fairs are for the food aren’t they?

Yum! Elephant ears! Sounds like a fun way to spend the day. How was the weather for the parade?
