Our son graduated from college in June. We are so proud of him. He studied hard and made good grades while being president of his fraternity for a year. He was so involved with charitable organizations and with heading his speech team that I worried about how he could do it all. He was able to keep up his grades while attending all the functions that were required for a fulfilling college experience. Some of those experiences I am sure that I don’t want to know about. LOL
It is soaking in though, just how much a good college education costs. We looked into scholarships but not everyone receives them. Greg worked while going to school. He was fortunate to find a job as the campus telephone operator at his college. They worked with his schedule of classes. Not all employers are willing to do that.
Private Education Loans were what enabled us to send him to a good school. The rates can vary so you need to check out each offer before signing on the dotted line. It is a confusing process but can be made easier. Lending Institutions can be helpful in sorting out all the jargon. It seemed like my eyes would glaze over when trying to read through it all.
I hope your child can have the chance to go to college. It was a wonderful experience for our son and one that will pay off in the future.

Do residents in your community have unusual names? Ours does. Names like Spitznagle and Gasaway are two that come to mind. My friends and I were talking about this one day. I’m so used to the names around here that I don’t even think of them as being that unusual. When I say them in front of strangers though, I get weird looks.
Do you have some unusual names to share?

Image spam is on its way out, and PDF spam is on its way in! Spammers are getting smarter.
BorderWare Technologies today announced that its real-time, multi-application reputation service, BorderWare Security Network (BSN), has identified a new trend in spam in which images are embedded in PDFs to sidestep today’s commercial and open security solutions. While most security solutions have adapted to stem the tide of image-based spam in JPG or GIF formats, the spammers have evolved their methods and many email security solutions are unable to detect and stop the PDF-based spam. On any given day, over 30 image spam campaigns are being run, with over 50% of these being PDF based, resulting in lost productivity and end-user frustration. As a result, organizations are struggling to protect against this latest threat in spam attacks.
BSN is the first and only service to analyze the reputation and behavior of IP addresses, domains and senders across Email, IM and Web – immediately at the perimeter with a zero false-positive rate.

When my children were small, their Grandma gave them books that were special. These books had their names throughout the story. You can order the books from Identity Direct if you would like to delight a child with books in which they are part of the story. My kids loved them. It made them so anxious to read and increased their ability to read.
I am saving the books so they can show their children someday.

I didn’t know that Billy Sunday was from my state of Indiana. He was a famous traveling minister. I hope you find this information interesting.
From Wikipedia:
William Ashley Sunday (November 19, 1862 – November 6, 1935) was an American athlete and religious figure who, after being a popular outfielder in baseball’s National League during the 1880s, became the most celebrated and influential American evangelist during the first two decades of the 20th century.
Born into poverty, Sunday spent some years in an orphanage before taking a series of odd jobs in several small Iowa towns as he demonstrated his prowess in amateur athletics. His exceptional speed provided him the opportunity to play baseball in the major leagues for eight years. He was known for his daring base-running and dramatic outfield play, but he was only an average hitter.
Converted to evangelical Christianity in the 1880s, Sunday left baseball for the Christian ministry. He gradually developed his skills as a pulpit evangelist in the Midwest and then, during the early 20th century, he became the nation’s most famous evangelist with his colloquial sermons and frenetic delivery.
Sunday held heavily reported campaigns in America’s largest cities, made a great deal of money, and was welcomed into the homes of the wealthy and influential. Perhaps more than a million people came forward at his invitations, and he may have personally preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to more people than any other person in history up to that time. Sunday was a strong supporter of Prohibition, and his preaching almost certainly played a significant role in the adoption of the Eighteenth Amendment in 1919.
Despite questions about his income, no scandal ever touched Sunday. He was sincerely devoted to his wife, who also managed his campaigns. But his three sons disappointed him, and his audiences grew smaller during the 1920s as Sunday grew older and alternate sources of entertainment preoccupied his countrymen. Nevertheless, he continued to preach and remained a stalwart bolster of conservative Christianity until his death.
