Ready for It

Published by Karen under a bit of everything

Hubby and I are ready for the big snow storm we are supposed to receive during the night. We have plenty of groceries in the house and I am smack dab in the middle of putting a quilt together. I would love nothing more than to be stuck in front of my sewing machine while watching the snow build up on the ground outside. I have heard that people complain of cabin fever. I am not experiencing that at all.

I feel bad for the people who have to travel long distances to work. If they don’t work, they don’t get paid. They have to get out on the dangerous roads no matter the danger. I feel bad for the animals. I wonder if deer get cold. Do ground hogs get crabby when the weather freezes their whiskers? We have gold fish in our pond that survive each winter. We have pond fountains that run to keep the water from freezing but still keep a cattle type heater in the water too. Our fish don’t even require food during the winter months. They must live off the algae because they are always there come summer. It amazes me that they survive through the winter.

I understand that there are areas of the US that are receiving snow that are not used to that type of weather. It sounds like they enjoy getting a bit of snow for the first time in years. Now, they can get that cozy, stay at home feeling that I enjoy. Cabin fever? It hasn’t bitten me.

Snowmen Purses

Published by Karen under entertainment

I do believe I saw snow in our neck of the woods. Snow makes me long for Outer Banks vacations! The only snow flakes I care to see are the ones that formed these cute snowmen. I finished this bag for a friend. She plans to give it to her sister who loves snowmen.

Winter Wear

Published by Karen under entertainment

Want to know what I love about winter? Not much. LOL I do enjoy getting my winter coats out and wearing scarves. I would rather find Brazil vacation packages within my budget but since I don’t have any vacation time available, I will stick with weekends out and about my home town. We do have fun things to do around here if you aren’t afraid to get out and drive in the snow.

Last Sunday, our choir leader wore the prettiest scarf with her suit. It set off a plain outfit and made it stand out. I have a beautiful scarf that the kids got me for Christmas one year. It is blue and looks like it has stained glass panels. I decided to see if it would look good with my blue pants suit. I have a pantsuit that has been a staple in my wardrobe for a few years. Maybe this scarf would make the fact that I have worn it so much, less noticeable. Do you have a dress or outfit that you wear over and over?

Snow removal

Published by Karen under business, economy

When you have a ton of snowfall in your town, do the street department crews remove the snow? I spent the weekend in Indianapolis. They do not clear any snow from the streets in the residential neighborhoods downtown. I have never seen anything like it. I think the frame of my car became bent from driving in the rough snow packed conditions. Grrrr.
