I had to laugh at my husband. He rented the DVD, Stone, three times before we actually found the time to watch it. Usually I tell him we should have bought the movie but in this case, I am glad we didn’t. Stone was a terrible movie. With great actors like Robert Dinero and Edward Norton, we thought it would be an intriguing movie. Not so. It was weird and the ending was so odd and abrupt that we found ourselves looking at each other with that huh? look on our faces.
It is funny how we each have different opinions on what makes a good movie. That is why I rarely take someones opinion about a movie as the deciding factor of which movies I watch. I can’t tell you how many times the gal working at the video store has said a movie was the best and we hated it!
I do trust the opinion of my niece when it comes to which movies to let small children watch. She not only gives out the best advice when picking out an ergo baby carrier, she is adamant about not filling her kid’s minds with junk. I was surprised when she mentioned that the new movie, Rondo, is full of cuss words. Why does the entertainment industry push a movie as kid friendly but have things in it we don’t want our kids to see and hear? It boils down to greed. I’m glad there are parents who care and don’t buy into the entertainment industry’s ploy.

I tend to worry when I send hubby to the video store by himself. He usually comes home with a gory, bloody, action packed movie that encourages me to venture into another room and drop Entrecards. Tonight he surprised me when he brought home Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. We usually only watch animated movies when our kids are visiting and drag us to the theater. I enjoyed this movie and even found myself laughing out loud more than once!
Excerpt from Amazon:
Manny (voiced by Ray Romano) and his mate Ellie (Queen Latifah) are expecting a baby mammoth. Unfortunately, this makes Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) and Diego the saber-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) feel left out. Diego, who worries he’s losing his edge, decides to head out on his own, while Sid adopts three suspiciously large eggs that he’s found through a crack in the ice. Up to this point, the movie is perilously sappy–does anyone, particularly a kid, want to watch a kid’s movie about parenthood and impending middle age? Fortunately, the eggs turn out to be dinosaur eggs from a pre-mammalian underworld, and when the mama T-Rex comes to rescue her rambunctious little ones, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs transforms into a delightful comic adventure.
I highly recommend this movie, especially if you are down in the dumps or not feeling up to par.

Did anyone happen to watch the spectacular live performance of David Foster on PBS last night? It was amazing. I was watching while needing to get my dishes washed. I kept telling myself, “after this next song you have to wash those dishes.” The dishes were never done. He had one performer after another that blew me away with their talent. David Foster is music, understands music and loves music. He is a unique songwriter, composer and producer who has produced talent of such standards as Josh Groban and Michael Buble. He has enhanced the careers of rising stars like Charice Pempengco and Katharine McPhee.
I am at Buy.com shopping for some of the artists on last night’s program. I have Andrea Bocelli’s latest cd, Incanto, in my cart and am looking over the website for other sales like Michael Buble. Oh, and I absolutely have to have the new David Foster DVD “Hit Man”.
Oh, I just remembered that Michael Buble and Blake Shelton sang together on the show. That was awesome. To hear the song, “Home”, sung in a traditional manner and in country twang was interesting and I enjoyed it. Both of their voices were awesome in their own right and yet they blended together nicely. Okay, I am putting Buble, Celine Dion and Shelton cd’s in my cart. It is a good thing that Buy.com has great prices.

We watched the dvd The Bucket List that starred Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. It was interesting. I thought it would have more humor and it could have but the writer dropped the ball. I know that dying is not fun and being sick and dying would be horrible. If you are going to make a movie about it, find the humor in the subject. I want to be entertained.
There were a few humorous parts and I enjoyed them. Otherwise, the movie was depressing. I enjoyed seeing Morgan Freeman’s son, Alfonso, play the part of his son in the movie. The resemblance is uncanny.
The reviewers say that the movie is up for an academy award nomination. It will probably win one. The movies I don’t like usually get an award. LOL At least, I have heard of this movie.
Edit: I checked on the movie’s nominations and didn’t find any. I see that it was made in 2007.
