Hands Free

Published by under family

PhotobucketOur son was frustrated with the car stereo he had bought less than two years ago. Needing to have a hands free phone option in his car, he thought he would be able to use a Bluetooth adaptor with the stereo. He, unfortunately, found that not to be true. He began a search for the type of stereo for his car, but was having issues finding one that worked with his iPhone. Those of you that have ipods, know how valuable they can be on long trips. Greg is in his car a lot, so he really wanted his stereo to be compatible, but the issue that he found was that his fairly new receiver was already too old. How many times have we experienced that with computers? To make a long story short and to not go into the frustration of dealing with technicians who like to pass the buck, he finally was able to find a stereo and get it to work the way he needed. We gave him a new receiver for his birthday, but it ended up being useless with an iPhone. A terrific technician allowed him to return that receiver and pick out one that was recommended for use with the iPhone, and now it works great! His music plays in his car via wireless connection, and the Bluetooth lets him talk handsfree using his car speakers. He is a happy young man and had a happy birthday.

Stupid Technology

I get so frustrated with my cell phone. It seems that my aunt was trying to reach me, or rather was trying to reach my mom. Their brother, my uncle, passed away and my aunt was trying to tell us.

With all the technology we have these days, why is it so hard to make a phone call? It must have been frustrating for my aunt to need to talk to someone and not be able to get through.

We Should Have Called

Published by under a bit of everything

We are all getting so accustomed to using cell phones that it won’t be long before we forget about pay phones altogether. Today, while at the lumber company, I needed to use my phone to check which plywood hubby wanted. I had not picked up my cell phone but instead picked up hubby’s. Since I couldn’t call hubby, I bought what we thought would work. I needed to buy more plywood than I brought home. Darn.

There are still times when, although cell phones are convenient, phone cards are a great help. We sure could have used one today. GetMeCallingCards.com is a great site to get phone cards. You can use phone cards to make international calls without having to use a pin number. Prepaid and rechargeable features make calling cards so easy to use and keep on hand. You never know when they will come in handy.

Wacko Drivers

Published by under a bit of everything

Mother’s Day shoppers have run amock. We went to the lumber yard to get a piece of plywood for Lynn. He is laying my sister’s floor while we are here in Kentucky. We thought we were going to be hit by more than one vehicle. The invention of the cell phone is not a great thing when it comes to driving. People were driving on the center cement piece and then jutting out into traffic. It was scary. I’m glad we were in my sister’s big truck. Why do people wait until the last minute to do their shopping and then drive around like crazy people?
