Farrah Tells About Dying from Cancer

Published by under health

Are you going to watch the television show that airs on Friday night? On Friday evening American TV channel NBC will show a two hour long documentary about Fawcett’s fight against the deadly illness, cancer. A two-hour documentary, Farrah’s Story, shot by Fawcett and her friend Alana Stewart about her battle with the disease, will air on NBC on May 15, 2009.

It is not that I don’t care what happens to someone who is struggling to live, whether they are famous or not. I am easily depressed.

I have not allowed myself to watch Slumdog Millionaire and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas either.

So, I am curious, are you going to watch Farrah’s documentary?

Research for Answers

Published by under health

I recently wrote a post about a controversial subject. It dealt with whether we should get the HPV test that checks women for the virus that causes cervical cancer. I have read about the controversy dealing with the mandate in Texas that requires girls as young as 12 to receive the HPV vaccine. I don’t agree with requiring a minor to have that shot. There is not enough research on the effects of the vaccine. What if down the road, we find that the shot did other things for their bodies that were not so good. I think the decision to have the shot should be left to the family.

Back to the post I wrote. I received a comment from Robin Sampson that made me look deeper into this subject. I caught myself taking the word of the commercials that urge everyone to get the vaccine. The commercials lead us to believe that cervical cancer is caused by HPV (Human papillomavirus). Robin says on her blog that many deaths and thousands of adverse effects (hundreds deemed serious and required hospitalization) have been reported. She reports that HPV is actually a sexually transmitted disease .

I am still researching the subject and have not come to a conclusion. I will let you know what I find. In the meantime, do your own research. We need to know the truth so we can maintain healthy bodies.

Shelly’s Nominated!

Published by under friends

header_dudes.jpgOkay now! Nominations for The Blogger’s Choice Awards are being made for 2008. I just found out that Shelly Tucker has been nominated! Woo hoo! This is the wonderful lady who has people all over the world, crocheting afghan squares for the Share A Square project.

Shelly’s blog, This Eclectic Life, is full of everything. From book reviews to her experiences sharing a hotel room with a stranger, she writes about everything. She says that she is bilingual, because she speaks English and Texan!!!

I found Shelly through my friend Tina. Tina and my mom have been making granny squares to help the Share A Square project. They want to insure that every child attending Camp Sanguinity Cancer Camp have an afghan to cuddle with. You have to check out this great project. It has turned out to be more than Shelly bargained for but she is determined to see it through.

Please register at the Blogger’s Choice awards and Vote for Shelly to receive the Blogger’s Choice Award,
