Ultimate Is Cool

I have been blogging for many years and the one thing I think is best about blogging is how many friends I have made.

I work full time in our business and have little free time. When I am not working, I am sewing. I love to make quilts. My mom bought a long arm quilting machine and she and I are enjoying quilting with it.

I love to read and find myself falling asleep each night with a book or Kindle. Do you read yourself to sleep and jerk awake when you drop the book?

So, what do you enjoy about blogging? Has it made a difference in your life?

Shortened Links Could Be Risky

The Internet is constantly changing. As mentioned in my previous post, we need to keep up with these changes. I notice that since I began using Twitter, using shorter URL addresses is popular. The problem with shorter url addresses is that you can not read where the URL leads. That leaves one open for entry into bad sites and possible malicious behavior. Fortunately, there is a way to unshorten those URL addresses. Daniel who writes at Daily Blog Tips, recommends using a URL unshortening tool like the one over at Sucuri.net. This tool will reveal the real URL behind the link and make checks with Google and with SiteAdvisor to make sure the website is safe to be visited. Thanks Daniel. This is good to know.

Great Bloggers Keep Me Reading

blog to blogI have dwindled down the list of blogs I read everyday. There are so many blogs who have excellent writers who write about subjects I enjoy but they never update. Poof! off my list they go. Here are a few of my favorite blogs and why I love them. Note, the list in no way includes all of my favorites. I am only highlighting a few.

I love to read Lofty Matters. This blog is full of stories about her family, (she has 8 kids!!!) and everyday chat. She is on top of new revelations on the Internet, so I check her site daily to see if there is anything I can learn.

I read Laane On the World to see how she is coping with all the work she does to make the world an better place for those who deal with Autism. This lady is incredible.

I check out Natural Hawg’s blog just to see what antics he is up to at the moment. He is a spitfire of a writer! He plans some big things in honor of his 40th birthday. You just have to read it to understand.

There you have it. Three of 100 or so blogs that I read everyday. They are the reason I don’t get my laundry done.

Keeping a Great Attitude

What a surprise. I have a few blogs that I just have to read every day. If I don’t check out what is new, I feel like I have forgotten something. That is how I feel about Life With Kim. She is a great writer. I was so surprised that she nominated me for the Lemonade Award. This award is given to a blogger because the giver feels that the blogger in question shows great attitude and gratitude. In other words, I make lemonade out of lemons. LOL

Thanks Kim. I am honored.

Now, for the rules.

• Put the logo on your blog or post.
• Nominate 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!
• Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
• Let them know that they have received this award.
• Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

My husband will bonk my head if I don’t get some work done in my office today so I better not take the time to nominate anyone. Most of you know who I admire already anyway!

Honored to Receive the Noblesse Oblige Award

You know what? The blogging world is a great place. Just when I am feeling low and wondering why I take the time to blog my feelings, I receive an award from an admired friend.

Kathy at Lofty Matters always seems to know when I need a kind word. She has often dropped me an email to say hi. I love reading all of her blogs. She is a terrific writer, whether she is writing about technological matters or about the birth of her new grandson. Her posts are always interesting. To have such a great writer, such as Kathy, bestow an award on my blog is gratifying. Thank you Kathy.

I started this blog as a way to record what goes on in my life. I think that the best thing that has come from this blog is the friendships I have gained. It has also allowed me a source to put my feelings down as in the case of the loss of my brother in-law yesterday. I have had bloggers pray with me that my daughter would make it through her push ups while in basic training. My life is out there through this blog.

Why I Blog

We made it home from our vacation late this evening. I am very tired and so I will not begin to tell you about our wonderful trip. I just want to tell you why I blog. This week, as I was with family, it hit me that I cannot remember the dates of when we did things together. My blog gives me a record of those times. I can read back through my blog and know when we went to each place. For instance, Lynn and I were trying to remember when we went to French Lick. I only need to check the archives on my travel blog and wahlah! I am able to pinpoint the date. Reading the post reminds me of what we saw and I am able to enjoy the trip all over again. Just as I blogged about French Lick, I will blog about our trip to the Smoky Mountains. Then, next month or when I am old and feeble, I will be able to reminisce through my posts. Ain’t the Internet grand!

Zookoda to the Rescue

Do readers of your blog hit and miss the best posts on your blog? If you write like I do, you are always coming up with things you want to write about. That means that some of your best posts get pushed to the abyss and your readers never see them. I hate it when that happens. I have written so many posts that are near and dear to my heart and have yet to receive a comment on my thoughts. Youch! That hurts. There is a way to get your posts out to your readers. www.zookoda.com Zookoda to the rescue!

Zookoda keeps readers updated via email whenever their favorite bloggers issue a new post. By using Zookoda email marketing package, I can send my subscribers updates. The amount of updates is only limited to how much I write and how many times per month the subscriber wishes to receive that email in their inbox that lets them know I am, once again rambling on!

This is so much different than RSS feeds which require subscribers to “pull” blogs into their accounts. Subscribers are automatically sent an email to let them know my blog has been updated.

Zookoda offers so much to bloggers. Offering an easy way for readers to connect to the blogs they love to read makes blogs more popular which in turn makes blogging fun, popular and profitable. As a blogger, Zookoda gives me control over subscriptions and confirmations. I can tell who signs up and who cancels. I can have fun creating my email design with the two billion templates available. Readers will look forward to receiving an email with an eye-catching design I have made. Talk about making my blog attractive! Wow. You are going to think I am crazy when I tell you that Zookoda is absolutely FREE!

Have you been looking for a way to drive traffic to your blog? Zookoda is your answer.

Great Deals

Published by under a bit of everything

I had never heard of oops paint until I began blogging. A couple of my blogging buddies were talking about their oops paint and what deals they got using oops paint. I had them explain to me, what the heck they were talking about. I had never seen a brand of paint labeled oops. Little did I know that when someone returns a can of paint because it didn’t work out, it is called oops paint.

Now I know that there are oops deals in just about everything. Because manufactures and importers overbuy, or don’t market their products correctly, we reap the benefits. www.OopsDeals.com is a new website that I will be surfing regularly. They deal in overstock or closeout deals in home decor, outdoor garden, candles, gifts and collectibles. I can find many products and they are all sold at drastic discounts. Some call me cheap but I say I am frugal when I find these great places to save money.
