Butterfly Award

I was pleasantly surprised to receive the Butterfly Award from Melissa over at Melissa’s Place. This award is presented to the coolest blogs she has ever known. I was listed with eight of the blogs she loves to read. How nice! Thanks Melissa.

You just never know who enjoys reading your blog.

What is a blog?
Wikipedia says:
A blog (a contraction of the term “Web log”) is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, one which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.[1] With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning — that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

A Cherished Award

I received a nice surprise today. My friend, Rebecca, who authors the blog, Freaky Frugalite, awarded me with the Sweet Home Blogger Award. It is always nice when someone enjoys reading what you have to say on your blog. Thanks Rebecca. It is an honor to receive this award from a great writer like Rebecca.

Advertisers Need Online Advertising

Published by under business

Lynn and I sat through a two hour spiel on why our business needs to advertise. It was nice to sit down and rest so it didn’t bother me to listen. We have been in business for almost thirty years. I think we know that advertising is the way to get customers to come into our store.

There are many types of brick and mortar and online businesses that need new and innovative ways to get the word out about their companies. That is where blogging will benefit each and every company. If only they knew about us.

Social marketing networks can connect advertisers and bloggers through an online advertising marketplace. Developed by online entrepreneurs, the network allows advertisers to check out blogs and in turn, bloggers have the opportunity to be paid for writing about the advertiser’s product on their blog. Advertisers are just beginning to see how blogging is the new way to socialize. Bloggers talk about everything!

There are so many things that bloggers would love to write about and have people clicking the purchase button at that company’s website. Cha Ching for the advertiser! At least, it would be Cha Ching for the advertiser who uses bloggers to talk about their products. An advertiser who uses social networking sites can look at the statistics for my blog(s) to see how many people read my blog and would read about their product. I think they would be amazed.

I know from experience that when a blogging friend blogs about a special at Victoria’s Secret, the amount of hits at VS is off the charts. As soon as a blogging buddy blogged about a special deal at Jo-Ann Fabrics, the product was sold out within hours. Bloggers get the word out.

Advertisers, please let me write about your products. I would love to write about sewing products and Moda Fabric on my blog. I could write about how much I love Fiskar’s scissors and how everyone in my house knows they risk death if they use my Fiskar’s for anything but fabric. I would love to write about mulch, Scott potting soil and Miracle Gro fertilizer. Chrysler would get a good write up from me because I love my Pacifica car. There are so many products that I use in my everyday life that I could blog about. I could blog about my empty nest and how we find ourselves at Pizza Hut every Thursday night. Do people know about the chicken alfredo at Pizza Hut? Do they know the DQ special for the month?

I could blog about fishing and how my husband loves his Tracker boat. I could tell everyone how he drools over the Cabela’s catalog. He has his eye on a new PT+ Rod. Berkley® Gulp!® fishing products would fly off the shelf if they used a blogger to let people know about their products.

Advertisers can sign up, create an opportunity and allow quality bloggers to write about their service or product.

I have seen opportunities to write about movies, boating safety, and other interesting subjects. The Internet is becoming the market place of the world. If you want to get the word out about your product, let bloggers do that for you.

A Lot of Help for Bloggers

I have been a member of a message board/forum for a couple of years now. I have learned so much from other bloggers and now I try to help others when they are struggling to get their websites up and running.

I recently discovered a website that has wonderful information about web hosting. Early on, as I struggled to work with my blogs, I would have loved to have access to the good articles found at Web Hosting Articles and Tutorials. They give advice on how the cheapest windows web hosting packages are not always the best. They also discuss how the expensive hosts are not always going to be the best either. They are straight forward and honest in their assessments of companies who offer services to bloggers. They also offer tutorials to walk you through what can be a difficult journey as you try to make a website.

I am always willing to learn more about web hosting and especially enjoy reading testimonials from satisfied users.

The Webhostingrating website is not quite finished but it looks like it will be beneficial to those trying to choose a good web host. The star rating is helpful to find what you are looking for in a good web host. Other features will be available as you choose which web host will offer the best service. I look forward to visiting the Webhostingrating website when it is completed.

Tag, You’re It!

Published by under entertainment

This has been a crazy morning. I was sick yesterday so I have a lot of estimates to type and phone calls to return. I will get it done and not get stressed. I am telling myself that so that I don’t get that nasty headache I had yesterday. Taking a deep breath….

I was tagged by Laura, over at Laura’s Daily Life and also by Chris at Lone Black Spider to do this interesting alphabet meme.

Rule #1: Copy all the links below and replace a single link under the appropriate letter of the alphabet. If your domain name, or even the title of your blog, starts with an “A,” you’d replace the link under that letter and put the replaced link at the bottom. Also, don’t forget to credit the tagger, or where you got the list from, at the end of the list with a full URL of the post so that a pingback gets generated.

1. A. acowboyswife.com
2. B. bloggingcents.com
3. C. caffeine-overload.com

4. D. DadThing.com
5. E. everythingandanythingblog.com
6. F. forumfinder.net
7. G. GeekMomMashup
8. H. happykeg.com
9. I. ipentimento.com

10. J. juliesjournal.com

13. M. mydailylifeasamom.com
14. N. notjustmama.net
15. O. originalmx5.net

16. P. peapodsquadstuff.com
17. Q. qweddings.com
18. R. rowdigrl.com
19. S. shirleysdelight.com
20. T. thepond

22. V. valmg
23. W. wiredfornoise.com
24. X. xaviermedia.com
25. Y. yimto.com
26. Z. zbudapest.com

Replaced link: thesocalledme.net

Previous tagger: Laura’s Daily Life

Rule #2: You now have to “tag” at least five people and encourage them to participate so that this thing spreads like a virus.

1. Sugar Queen’s Dream
2. Mothers Got a Dot Com
3. Tina
4. Angi
5. Anne

Never Too Much Coffee

Published by under a bit of everything, friends

I just discovered another blogger who loves coffee as much as I do! Last night, my husband was a bit perturbed because I made what he calls fru fru coffee. It was my Dunkin’ Donuts blend that has a bit of cinnamon flavoring. He wants, what he calls, REAL COFFEE. LOL I think that Eve at Caffeine Overload would be able to set him straight! Her blog is full of funny and crazy things she has found. I have been reading her blog, Confessions of a housewife for quite some time now. I am glad to see she is being a little ornery on her Caffeine Overload blog. It has some funny stuff!
