How to Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Published by under a bit of everything

Guest post by Jessica Carter. Jessica Carter is a professional freelance writer with over 10 years of experience in the diamond industry. She is currently writing for www.DiamondPriceGuide.com as one of the diamond experts, as well as for a variety of jewelry blogs and portals.

Like the fashion industry, the jewelry industry is subject to trends, both from consumers and retailers. Currently, one of the more popular trends is for customers to design their own engagement rings. There are two different ways for customers to design their own engagement ring: to start with a diamond center stone or to pick the band out first.
If you decide to choose diamonds first, most retailers will ask for how much you are prepared to spend along with the carat size, the quality of cut, color and what degree of clarity you would like your center stone to have. In addition, many retailers list their diamonds together with their specs. However, many of these specs are confusing. For this reason it is generally a good idea to read whatever you can about diamonds. The vast majority of retailers have this information on their websites and it is highly recommended that you make use of this tool.
Upon selecting a diamond, you will then be able to choose the setting and band as well as any side stones or accenting stones you would like in your ring. One thing that customer should keep in mind is that once you have selected a diamond, you will have to make sure your band can hold whatever sized gems or diamonds you choose for your ring. Otherwise, you will have to restart your order.
Picking a setting or band is the more common route and is generally simpler and more preferred because the customer generally already has an idea of what the ring will look like with the diamonds set in it. In addition, the setting generally has listed in its specs what sized diamonds can be used with it. This makes the next step, diamond selection rather simple as you will already know which diamonds fit with your diamond and which do not.

Snowmen Purses

Published by under entertainment

I do believe I saw snow in our neck of the woods. Snow makes me long for Outer Banks vacations! The only snow flakes I care to see are the ones that formed these cute snowmen. I finished this bag for a friend. She plans to give it to her sister who loves snowmen.

Uses for a Million Toothpicks

Published by under entertainment

This is so cool. Can you imagine spending 34 years building things with toothpicks? I wonder if his wife minds the space his creations fill in their living room. Hey, it is better than having a motorcycle torn apart on the carpet!

I also wonder how much a million toothpicks cost. I don’t know the price of one box let alone a million.

If you read my blog, you know that our son is getting married in July. We are very excited and have been busy with all the details that come with parties and fittings. I have been asked, by several close friends, what the kids would really like as far as wedding gifts. Sure, the kids are registered at several different department stores but my friends would like to give them something a bit more personal. I have found the perfect place to purchase personal gifts.

A Gift They Will Love

Published by under a bit of everything

It is that time of year. Spring flowers are blooming and the tulips and hyacinths have made their way out of the soil. I have seen lilac bushes in full bloom. With spring comes weddings and graduations. I am thrilled to have been invited to my niece’s graduation ceremony from college. I have also been invited to two weddings. Both weddings are for young people that I have known since they were tiny. I want to find unique gifts to let them know how special they are to me.

Upside Living is a wonderful place to find heirloom quality home and garden decor items from around the globe. That is the type of gift I have been trying to find. I have seen many beautiful items as we have traveled and always thought how they would make beautiful and appropriate wedding gifts. I didn’t know how to find those items again until I happened upon Upside Living. They are an easy-to-use site that offers the quality and service that I expect.

Look at this beautiful wine carafe.
