Mr. Bluelight and Layaway

Karen | blogging | Thursday, 13 November 2008

PhotobucketIt makes me sad to think about but camping season is finished here in the mid-west. It is finished, unless you are a die hard camper who doesn’t mind camping in the snow. There are people who love to camp in the winter time. Not me. I found the perfect tent system at Kmart but, unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a heater.

Seriously, I am putting my new found tent in layaway and giving it to hubby for Christmas. I am so glad that Kmart is offering layaway again. It is too hard to hide things around my house and Kmart will keep it for me for 8 weeks. While looking for a temporary type bed to have for our Christmas time company, I found the perfect “anywhere bed”. It looks so comfy that it might become a permanent fixture in my guest room. It is easy to set up with its air pump that expands the bed automatically in seconds. It folds down into a compact little box when stored. The bed is advertised as an anywhere bed that is perfect for those of us who like to camp but don’t want to lie on the ground. That would be me. Anyway, while looking around, I found the tent. In fact, I saw that Kmart carries all sorts of camping equipment. They have coolers and sleeping bags too. Using Kmart Layaway means I only have to put down a deposit and make payments for a few weeks. I can have a place to store my gift and make it easier to afford a great tent.

Did you know that the Mr. Bluelight character, made famous by Kmart, is back? I remember being a kid and hearing the announcement about the blue light special happening in a particular aisle. It seemed that everyone rushed to see what was offered. We all knew to look for that flashing blue light because it meant big time savings. Mr. Bluelight is back and making it easier than ever to shop.

You will love what else I found:
• Celebrations by Radko, a unique assortment of boxed glass ornaments exclusively for Kmart. The new collection by Christopher Radko®, the original manufacturer of handmade glass ornaments and holiday collectibles.
• Jaclyn Smith 100-percent cashmere sweaters
• Range of home electronic systems from Samsung, Sony and Panasonic – all at affordable prices
• Wide variety of the popular Joe Boxer apparel for the family, including fleece, loungewear and sleepwear.

Kmart is the place to shop for savings on Christmas gifts and for camping items!

They Look Just Like Us

Karen | blogging | Friday, 07 November 2008

I was dropping entre cards when I visited one of my favorite blogs. News from Nola reminds me of the fun experiences we had in New Orleans and in other parts of Louisiana. Our daughter was stationed in Grand Isle Louisiana. When we visited Stacy, we took the time to check out the beautiful southern states. You can read about a portion of our visit when you read my guest post over at News from Nola. Sara has my post up and I found it this morning. I looked at the picture in the post and thought, wow that couple looks just like us! LOL I hope you will check it out!

Happy T.O.T Day

Karen | blogging | Friday, 31 October 2008

I was afraid I was going to miss Grey’s Anatomy all together last night. I got caught up in a movie hubby rented called, Leatherheads.

It was a pretty good movie. You have to watch it just to laugh at the helmets that football players wore back in those days. I would venture to guess that they are collectors items. I never see one in an antique shop.

George Clooney was his boring self in the movie. If not for his good looks, I doubt he would get any work. Renee Zellweger is always interesting to watch. Her facial expressions are so amazing. I wonder how old she is now and what happened between her and Kenney Chesney. Oh my, I am so nosy this morning.

Happy Halloween everyone. I hope you receive lots of chocolate in your bag this year.

Ooops, I forgot to say…I caught the last half hour of Grey’s. It was pretty good again. They can leave that sexual stuff out (between the two women) as far as I am concerned. That should be kept private and doesn’t need detailed in a tv program. Sheesh. Bailey was wonderful as usual.

I had a nice surprise this morning. PK over at Blogging Us-Exploring Colorado, gave me the “I Love Your Blog Award”. Thanks so much PK. Everyone should add Blogging Us to their daily read list. This blog has the most beautiful pictures and is fun to read. I learned so much and laughed a bunch while reading her post about learning to blow an Elk bugle. She was preparing to go Elk hunting!

Traveling in Your Car or On the Web

Karen | blogging | Sunday, 24 August 2008

We decided to take the day off yesterday and make a tour of Indiana. We had been wanting to check out the Triumph motorcycles ever since we passed by the dealership while in Indy for another purpose. So off we headed.

Our first stop was to get some breakfast at Panera Bread. I have to tell you that their breakfast sandwiches are very yummy. They use swiss cheese and a flat bread to make them and so they are a bit different than the ones you get at fast food places.

Of course you know, Panera Bread offers free Wii Fi. I didn’t indulge but I saw plenty of other people working with their laptops. More and more people are finding out how wonderful the Internet is for gathering information. Webhosting is a difficult choice. It would be beneficial for you to check out the webhosting at Superchargerpros.com. They have excellent customer service and their pricing is very competitive. Their articles are very helpful. I learned new things from their choosing a domain article. If you are looking for a new host or are thinking of starting a web site, be sure to check with Superchargerpros and see how they rate webhosts. It will save you from many headaches.

Missed It

When our kids aren’t around, hubby and I are so lazy! We were content to sit in our lodge room and watch a movie on the Hallmark channel instead of going to see the fireworks. Our town has a pretty decent fireworks display. We should have supported it but I was sewing and hubby was relaxing and so we stayed put.

What is the most fantastic fireworks display you have ever seen?

An Honor

Karen | blogging | Monday, 23 June 2008

The thing I have noticed about blogging is that you never really know if you are talking to yourself or if readers really enjoy what you have to say. This blog is a fun one for me because it has been one of recollection. I have gone through old photo albums as I try to remember the places I have been. I received an email from KML saying that I received an award for this blog. I am honored. KML has a wonderful blog full of examples of excellent photography. For that blogger to honor me is quite a compliment.

Photobucket

“The “Arte y Pico” award was created to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and their talents, whether it be writing or artwork in all media’s. When you receive this award it is considered a “special honor”. Once you have received this award, you are to pass it on to at least 5 others.”

Since I already honored 5 bloggers with this award, I won’t do that again. Not that there aren’t many who are inspirations to me and others.

Thank you for this compliment, KML. I am in awe of your photography.

What Do You Think?

Karen | blogging | Friday, 16 May 2008

How do you like my new theme? I am so excited about having it. It makes me smile every time I come here to write. My friends Val and Loretta over at Easy WAHM Websites have beautiful themes. This one is called Mushroom House. It was hard to decide between it and their fairy themes.

In their own words:

You can buy a website that is completely ready to go. We have top notch domain names, word press designs, and content that has been started for you. You will be able to update immediately just by logging into the WordPress content management system. We will even teach you how to use the easy WordPress program that your site is built through. It is very easy and you will be able to update as frequently as you’d like. Besides being easy to use, this software is free no matter what hosting you choose.

Wow, great looking themes and they teach you how to use the WordPress content management system. They are terrific!

China Webmasters Forums

Karen | blogging, news | Tuesday, 26 February 2008

I would like to give a heads up about a new website. China Webmasters Forums is a great place for webmasters in China to meet to discuss web and graphic design as well as programming and coding. This website is also a place where you can discuss other things pertaining to the Internet. There are sections on search engine optimization and how to get the best SEO for your website. This new forum is full of valuable information and is waiting for you to check it out.
