Kentucky
These photos were taken while traveling through the Appalachian Mountains near Pikeville, Kentucky. You can see the coal veins in the part of the mountain that was cut to make room for the road. It is an amazing site. Pikeville is home to one of the largest earth-moving projects in history - the Pikeville Cut-Thru, and host to one of the biggest festivals in the state, the nationally-known Hillbilly Days.

Great photos! I would love to visit Kentucky but have never had the chance!

Happy WW! I worked in Northern Kentucky for five years … and currently live across the river in Cincinnati. I imagine that the eyes of the nation will be on Kentucky this week for the Hillary story…
I went the political cartoon route on my WW meme this week.

I too have never seen KY…I’m told it’s beautiful. Look out though, it’s now in the sights of developers. I saw an ad just this morning for property sales up there. First NC, then TN…now KY. Thanks for stopping by Spatter. Happy WW.

Oops, sorry I called you Mary. I see that you are Rebecca. Did you attend college in the eastern or western portion of KY?
Kentucky is beautiful. I visited western Kentucky last year- and while we were there my goofball brother asked someone if that “deliverance” type of stuff happens here. The man was nice about it and said: “Oh, no. Not here. That stuff happens on the eastern side of the state” I thought that was pretty funny.
