Finished T-Shirt Quilt

Published by under friends,health

I had the t-shirt quilt finished and put a label on the back so my friend would always know who put it together for her. I just needed to get together with her and give her the quilt! Easier said than done. We both work full time and our evenings are full of have to do stuff. On the spur of the moment, I called her last night and she said to come over. She gave me the reaction I hoped for. She really liked it.

Hubby and I have been going over to his mom’s house every 3-4 hours. She has been so sick. We ended up taking her to the ER last Thursday night. They hooked up one of those industrial pumps, at least it looked like one! and got her hydrated. After being so sick, it seemed as though she became dehydrated. We can’t have that so, hubby and I go over to make sure she is eating and drinking. She had an ultra sound on Monday and it showed nothing wrong. In fact, she is a very healthy 85 year old. After another test on Thursday, I hope they figure out what is causing her to vomit all the time. She is getting tired of not feeling well. She is a busy gal and does not like being confined to bed. Prayers are welcomed.

Catching Up with Friends

Published by under friends

One of the many nice things about working with our friends this past weekend, was the chance to catch up on each other. Our friend’s daughter made the JV team in cheerleading and my friend found out her boss is retiring. Next year will be a busy year for both of them.

My friend’s husband was telling us about some funny things he has encountered while teaching at the college level. One of his students actually came to class smoking an e cigarette! Our friend was not sure weather this was allowable in class or not. I didn’t know that e cigarettes actually put out a puff of smoke. I suppose if it helps the man quit, more power to him.

Our friends brought their dog to help us pack boxes. We got to know this cute little dog a bit better. She is a daddy’s girl!

Times of Change

Published by under friends

I know that many people are facing financial ruin because they have lost their jobs and cannot pay their bills. I hope they will find relief. There are others, like my last carpet customer, who are able to finally buy a home because of the new types of loans available and the lower prices of homes in our area. I am so excited for her.

It is overwhelming to make all the decisions when preparing a home for a move. If you could pick out everything from a book and tell the contractor to “just do it”, it would be less of a job.

My friends recently remodeled their kitchen. I got to see it last night and now my own kitchen looks pathetic in comparison. LOL

My friend, Beth, told of how many times they visited the home goods stores to pick out lighting, had the clerk use the barcode scanner, and left the store laden with packages. It sounds like fun to me!

I love all the choices they made and can’t remember what the old kitchen looked like! I wish I could have taken pictures so I could show you their new cabinets and counter tops. Here is a light fixture similar to theirs.
They have three of these over their table

This track lighting is similar to what they have in the center of their kitchen

This is similar to the color of paint they used on two walls. The other walls are painted in a taupe color.

Handmade is the Best

Published by under friends

I recently attended a craft show here in our little town. It seems as if there are many local crafty people. I was excited to find two of my daughter’s friends with a booth of their own. They had tables full of handmade Christmas cards. Of course, I had to buy a few. The problem was deciding which ones were my favorites. I had to limit myself. They make all sorts of cards including birth announcements, birthday and sympathy cards so I am going to be checking with them often. I love giving something that took time to make. It makes giving a card more personal.

This afternoon, I am going to a friend’s house where she is showing a couple of us gals how to make a wallet. I have made a wallet from a pattern before, photo above, but I had trouble getting it to look nice. I am anxious to get tips from her and see how hers turn out so pretty. Have a great day everyone.

Horses and Valentines

Published by under friends

We have been updating our calendar because we decided to take a vacation. That in itself is amazing. We have a hard time getting away from our business. While looking at the calendar, I was shocked to see that Valentine’s Day is only a couple of weeks away. Yikes!

I have a friend who has been looking for someone special for a long time. I was hoping this year would be the year that he would need a great Valentine’s gift to give to someone special. Alas, I don’t think it has happened. I think he needs to try a different approach. He is a great guy. He has a good job, owns his home and is interested in many hobbies.

A great way for him to find that special someone would be to use a dating service. Dating services have come a long way in the past few years. Because of my friend’s interest in horses, I think that the equestrian cupid might help.

Seriously, this dating service is the best, largest and most effective dating site for single horse lovers and friends in the world! A niche dating service such as this is different than many dating services in that they offer ways to meet people who hold the same interests, the love of horses. They offer FREE sign-up to be on your way to meeting that special someone. I cannot think of an easier, relaxing way to get to know someone. Not only can you meet the person special to you, you can make friends who will become your horseback riding buddies. Enjoy great exercise as you discover uncharted trails and become one with nature. Equestrian Cupid has experienced great success with their safe and easy to use dating service.

I hope my friend is agreeable to trying it. I’ll let you know how it works out. He will, hopefully, be needing a Valentine gift come this time next year.

Value Good Friends

Published by under friends

This is the last week of Greg’s summer vacation from grad school. He has accomplished a lot and relaxed some too. He had lunch with his Grandma Betty this week and while they were eating, an old friend sat down at their table. Gloria hadn’t seen Greg for awhile and it was good to catch up on each others lives. Gloria is lucky to be with us. A few years ago, she was traveling by herself in Tennessee. She was run off a mountain road by an unknown driver. Gloria’s car went straight down the mountain side and was damaged extensively. The car accident was not part of her vacation plan that year.

Did you know that if you have been in an accident that is not your fault, that you can re-coup the diminished value of your vehicle up to four years from the accident. Advocate Auto Claims will help you determine what you are owed with their FREE diminished value estimate.

We are all glad that Gloria is ok.

Red Pine Mountain

Published by under friends

Through my efforts of blogging, I occasionally come across a blogger who has overcome odds that most would find insurmountable. I found such a blogger at Red Pine Mountain. While watching the Olympics, I have been reminded that many people push themselves in order to achieve goals. Some people push themselves in order to make it through the day. You can read about this inspiring blogger on her post, More of Me. Her story will surely make you feel blessed and want to aspire to enjoy life to its fullest.

Growing Up

Published by under friends

This must be the year for weddings. Of course, it could be the age of my kids but we are attending another wedding tomorrow. The groom is a kid I have known since he was in 2nd grade and was in Greg’s class at school. I can remember how he drove me crazy when he came to visit. He wanted to know what time it was and was it time to go home yet. LOL

He grew up and was on the speech team with Greg. He was into radio broadcasting and is doing that on a country station. It is so strange to hear him on the air and think of that little kid I knew. He has come a long way from being that whiny kid who wanted to be home with his mom and dad.

I feel a closeness to him for another reason. He was at our house while his Dad had heart surgery. His mom called from the hospital to say that his Dad didn’t survive the surgery. I will never forget that phone call.

Time has passed and we are in different places in our lives. I cannot wait to see him and enjoy the day with him and his new wife.

Tomorrow, I will enjoy the party and wish him well.

Prayers Needed

Published by under friends

We had so much fun at the wedding today but I will have to tell that story later. I would like to ask for prayers for all those in southern Indiana who are struggling. The rains have caused the rivers and creeks to flood the land. Many homes have water in their basements and first floors. The bride and groom of the wedding we attended today were upset because their neighbors called them to say that their apartment had been flooded.

A bridge in Columbus, Indiana collapsed today because of the heavy rains.
