About Karen
Hi, I’m Karen, an over 50 but feel like 30 wife and mom. I enjoy books, movies, and the Internet. I love to scrapbook and quilt. My kids are the highlight of my life and then there are my dogs!
My husband and I own our own business and have since 1979.
I live in the midwest and I don’t like winter here very much. At least we don’t have to mow our 2 1/2 acres in the winter time. I used to snow ski but I have the beginnings of osteoporosis and I have to watch doing stuff like that. I used to ride my own motorcycle but sold it when I fell and broke my elbow. Yes, my nickname is Clutzy.
I’ve been trying for 2 years now, to read my Bible in a year. I will get there one of these days!
I try to be a good listener to my family and friends. I try to see both sides of an issue. I’m ok with agreeing not to agree as long as we don’t have chips on our shoulders. I try my best to follow politics but I get bored with it and find my attention drifting away from the speaker and then I don’t know what is going on.
I feel blessed to write for advertisers through several companies. The extra money has afforded some fun things and helped pay for a few necessities.
I would love to live in a big old house that has built in hutches and pantries, a winding staircase and claw foot bathtubs. The wood work would have to have never been painted. I’d love a wrap around front porch that is deep enough to have a table and chairs so we could have meals outside on the porch.
I have to finish a book or project when I start it. I have started two quilts and it is driving me crazy that I haven’t gotten back to them to finish them. I have made 3 large quilts. I hand quilted them. I am learning to machine quilt.
If you think you’d like to keep up with what I’ve been doing, please click on the orange subscribe button and it will save my blog in your feed reader. Feel free to leave me a comment so I can check out your blog or website. Thanks for visiting.
Like I tell my kids when they get ready to leave, be careful, say your prayers and watch out for deer.

Hi Karen,
First off, thank you so much for hosting the Photo-A-Day widget on your blog. I really appreciate that.
I have recently gotten myself a brand new blog. I am moving http://benspark.blogspot.com to http://www.benspark.com.
The reason I am telling you this is that the Photo-A-Day isn’t a true widget where I can update everything. The link to my blog is not something I can update. Could you please change the link that goes to The BenSpark from http://benspark.blogspot.com to http://www.benspark.com. Thank you very much.
DREW

Karen,
I tried to submit a PPP offer, but it crashed at the payment part. Did you happen to receive the details?

Karen, I’m new at this also. I picked your blog because it looks really neat and you were talking about “Dancing with the Stars”. I will give you what I think is my link, but as I said, I’m new and am still not sure what I’m doing.

Hi Karen! Great blog! Are you me? Kids, dogs, over 50, love big old houses, osteoporosis (thanks goodness Sally Fields has made it okay to admit this), writer, scrapbooker, quilter, business woman, mid-west—all these things we have in common! I have a couple of books out you might enjoy—memoirs of growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Come visit me at: http://www.wildwoodpress.org!

I was in an old house yesterday and really love them. Ours is fairly new, 17 years or so. The re is so much character and history that you can almost feel in an old house from the 1890’s. And let’s face it, they don’t make ‘em like they used to!

I also used to write short stories and poems but I am afraid you’ve got problems with Cyrillic alphabet. Nevertheless here you can find my texts:

I have a Daily Bible which I have read through in a year, but now I’m going at my own pace. If I can manage to have some quiet time with God and meditate on His Word, my day goes better.
