I enjoyed eating the pie, my husband’s cousin made, so much that it has inspired me to stop using store bought crusts and find a great recipe to make a homemade pie, crust and all. Does anyone have a great pie crust recipe?

There are books Acoustic-Guitar for dummies guitars at guitar center locations, surely there are books for us baking dummies!

I did see a recipe in the July issue of Better Homes and Gardens. The recipe calls for shortening and butter. I am under the impression that using butter in the recipe is not a good idea. I have heard that lard or shortening makes a good pie crust. Adding butter makes the pie greasy. Is that true?

I hope someone rescues me from boring pie crusts!

Butter is absolutely critical in a pie crust! I usually have a hard time following recipes to a tee (so baked goods often come out a little off) – but the one thing that is essential is that you use a pie crust recipe that calls for a LOT of butter. If it doesn’t, you are better off eating something besides pie :P
