Gray Day with A Colorful Heart

Published by at 7:54 am under family

Usually, when it is dreary outside like it is today, I try to cheer myself up by wearing colorful clothing. Not today though. We have been encouraged to wear black to church.

Eight to ten years ago, a man began coming to our church. He would sit in the balcony in the farthest corner possible. Away from everyone, he would take in the sermon and then leave before anyone could speak to him. Little by little, he began to sit closer to people and began to open up and let us know what he was about. I guessed he might be an abogados de inmigracion but eventually discovered he was a rifted factory worker. Disgruntled with his work situation, he was searching for answers. Always wearing black, he began to interact with a few members of our congregation. We discovered that this man was very artistic. He drew backdrops and made palm trees from carpet cores for our vacation Bible school programs. He and his father made a scaled replica of Noah’s ark that has to be seen to be believed!

Today, we are sending this man off on an adventure. He has been accepted to the Moody Bible Institute and will be leaving next week. We will shower him with good luck cards and a little cash to help him on his journey. He will be covered with our prayers.

although i agree to the message of this act, kindness and helping the needy, but isn’t Moody Bible Institute only train students to become full-time ministers in churches ?
what if this man does not want this path?
