I had the t-shirt quilt finished and put a label on the back so my friend would always know who put it together for her. I just needed to get together with her and give her the quilt! Easier said than done. We both work full time and our evenings are full of have to do stuff. On the spur of the moment, I called her last night and she said to come over. She gave me the reaction I hoped for. She really liked it.
Hubby and I have been going over to his mom’s house every 3-4 hours. She has been so sick. We ended up taking her to the ER last Thursday night. They hooked up one of those industrial pumps, at least it looked like one! and got her hydrated. After being so sick, it seemed as though she became dehydrated. We can’t have that so, hubby and I go over to make sure she is eating and drinking. She had an ultra sound on Monday and it showed nothing wrong. In fact, she is a very healthy 85 year old. After another test on Thursday, I hope they figure out what is causing her to vomit all the time. She is getting tired of not feeling well. She is a busy gal and does not like being confined to bed. Prayers are welcomed.

My husband and I are having a date day. We are going to the movies to see The Help. I have read the reviews and I am excited to see this movie. It might rate right up there with Fried Green Tomatoes as one of my favorites.
I look like a dork today. My left foot has been swelling up and throbbing. I don’t know what is causing it but yesterday, I started wearing tennis shoes that have better insoles. My foot felt a ton better last night. I am going to look into enzo angiolini shoes so that I can wear quality shoes and not look so dorky.
I hope everyone who is affected by the hurricane has found shelter and stays safe. I’m praying for you.

An earthquake? I thought earthquakes were local to California. Seriously, I know that they can happen anywhere but who would have thought yesterday’s earthquake would be felt in Washington DC and as far away as Ohio. My sister felt it at the local Dairy Queen in Kentucky. It makes one think about the structure of buildings, underground storm shelters and where one would go if building started collapsing around us. What would you do?
Yesterday was spent driving to Indianapolis. I took our work van that has NO AIR CONDITIONING. I think I should receive hazardous duty pay. I forgot how tiring driving with the windows down could be. The wind blowing in my face all day made for a tiring trip. I did get to stop at two quilt shops and the mall so I am thankful for that!

What do you do with all those t-shirts that your kids get when they participate in band, sports, youth group each year? What does one do with all the t-shirts that represent walking to help fund cancer research? You make a quilt! Here is what I have been working on for a dear friend of mine.

I love getting together with friends to play a good game of cards. Have you ever heard of Hand and Foot? We played this fun game with two other couples and I have not laughed so hard for a long time. At first it was a bit like reading a manual for document management software but once I got the jist of the game, it was a lot of fun.
We played with 8 decks of cards! Yes, I said 8 decks. The object of the game is to get rid of cards from your hand (11 cards), and then from your foot (11 cards), by melding them. A Meld is a set of three to seven cards of equal rank placed face up on the table. A Meld cannot have fewer than three cards. Clear as mud? LOL

My friend, Linda, and I have visited the big craft festival at Amish Acres for nearly 18 years. We have only missed a few years and I’m sure that was only because of an emergency! We love to go down every aisle to see what the vendors have to show us.
This year, the amount of vendors seemed to be down in numbers compared to years past. There were a few vendors that we are used to seeing who were not even there this year. Beverly’s is a booth that sells the neatest clothing. Beverly’s wasn’t there.
The wooden spoon lady, I never can remember the name of her booth but she makes spoons out of wood. There were no stained glass booths.
Do you think it was because of the economy? Do people have no expendable cash? Maybe it was the 90 degree temperatures we have had this month. I thought I might need the link to ROP life online after walking around in the heat. I don’t know why the vendor’s numbers were down. There seemed to be a smaller crowd of buyers too. Oh well, I did my share to help the economy.
Linda and I always meet after a few hours of shopping. This year we met at the ice cream barn. We look forward to eating the mint/chocolate swirl soft served ice cream. It makes us forget how sweaty and dirty we feel from traipsing around in the dirt laden aisles.
