Our regular quilt guild leader was in Paducah attending the big quilt convention being held there. I hope she hasn’t had too much trouble getting around because of the floods. I heard that they had to move all of the vendors out of the convention center because it flooded there. They had to find other spots. What a mess and a big undertaking to get everyone moved. Ai yi yi!
Since our fearless leader was away, it was left to some of us other quilters to get the meeting going and steer it the way it needed to go. I am not a leader and don’t want to be! It is one of the jobs I do not want! My mind goes blank and my knees turn to jello. We made it through the meeting and actually had a good time. Then it was off to a pizza restaurant where we had food and many laughs.
Please keep my son in your prayers. He is having some health issues. It is exam time and he does not need this added stress. Thanks.

I finished the stroller bag. I made a long, adjustable strap that can be draped over the stroller handles. Also, I found some cute vinyl monkey fabric and so I made a couple of things to go with the bag. I made a pacifier pod, a bag to hold dirty diapers and a changing pad.

I learned that the vinyl fabric is very stretchy.

I am thrilled to take time from looking up what mimio means, to check out Val’s Four Foods on Friday questions. Here goes…
1. What color is the rice in your favorite fried rice? Brown. Is there another color?
2. Does your favorite fried rice have bean sprouts in it? No it doesn’t. I like bean sprouts but they aren’t in any fried rice that I have ever had.
3. Does your favorite Chinese food come in a carton or a plastic container? When we get Chinese food from our local takeout business, it is in foil containers with plastic lids. When we have leftovers boxed up at the restaurant we go to for the best Chinese food ever, they box it up in those cute white cartons.
4. How long does it take for Chinese takeout from your favorite place to be delivered We don’t have a place that delivers. That would be nice!

You have probably seen the Gone Fishing signs, I am putting up a Gone Sewing sign. I am so excited to make a bag for one of my daughter’s friends. I had put this project off because I had no clue what to make. I wanted to make a monkey themed baby quilt for the new mother-to-be but someone beat me to the punch! How dare they? LOL Well, I thought she might need a bag to hang from the back of a stroller so I am making one using these fabrics. See ya!

I have 10 blocks finished for the quilt my sister is having me make for her. She liked the fabric and since I have nothing blue in my house, she bought said fabric and we decided the finished quilt would be hers. I am making these blocks as a guild project. Anyway, I made this block and decided it would be fun to put flowers in the basket.
I found some cute flowers in Terri Degenkolb’s Tangled Up in Threads book and traced them onto fusible paper. I ironed the paper onto the back of the fabric and cut out each flower.

I pressed each flower onto the quilt block. Embroidered around each petal and added buttons.
Here is the finished 15″ block.

There is a tradition being made in our family. Our son has always been a fashion connoisseur of sorts. When he was 3, he insisted on wearing his black cowboy boots to church. I didn’t mind but he got some strange looks since it was summer and he was wearing shorts. You know, “pick your battles”. When Greg was in high school, he was very clothes conscious and liked to dress up. Whenever there was a special occasion, whether required or not, he wore a suit. He was especially fond of shirts that required cuff links. We have checked out superhero cuff links, fraternity cufflinks and others but my favorite cufflinks are the ones we found in Washington DC to commemorate his internship with Senator Bayh. Just recently, my husband and I sent Greg a pair of Indian head penny cufflinks to commemorate his internship coming up this summer. It is fun to know that Greg likes cufflinks as much as we enjoy finding unique ones to celebrate his accomplishments.

It is that time of the week when I have fun writing about remote security and participating in Val’s Four Foods on Friday. You can join the fun!
1. When you have french fries at home do you make them or use frozen? I have made them from scratch just to see if I could. They sure are yummy. I don’t usually take the time though and buy them frozen. Add a little powdered ranch dressing before baking to make them even more delicious.
2. What is your favorite type of fried potato? I prefer broasted or wedges. They seem more substantial than skinny fries.
3. What do you have with your fries or potatoes? ketchup and I am bad about salting them
4. What’s your least favorite thing about french fries? That they are so fattening. Why is it that everything that tastes good is not good for us? Why oh why!
