110 Days of Construction

Published by at 11:28 am under a bit of everything

For the past 4 or 5 years, our mayor has been telling us that the road in front of our home will be repaired. I should say, he is saying it will be taken out down to the bare bones and replaced. This is a good thing. The run off during the winter forms icy patches and we end up with a few cars per season in our ditch. We have had to replace our mailbox a few times. The downside to this construction project is that it will be hard for people to get to our business. I wish we were wealthy and could take an extended vacation. Since we are not, we plan to suck it up, put on our rain boots a wade out the storm.

Here is a picture of the road that will be reconstructed.
Looking from our drive:

The new thingy for the phone line. They destroyed my clematis. I would have moved the plant had I known they would be working there. :-/

The hole they dug. They hit our sewer line and duct taped a trash bag around it for the weekend. Sigh.

Well I sure hope the rest of the construction goes more smoothly!

That’s a shame they destroyed your clematis. Those are so pretty!

Ah, looks like the work of unions. You have unions over there? New York union workers are EXTRA SPECIAL, I tell ya!

My town recently installed sidewalks. The NY union workers were so expensive that the town couldn’t afford to hire them. So they hired a company from Minnesota! The workers lived here for 2 weeks, staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, doing the sidewalks, while the town paid for it all. And it was all still cheaper than hiring the next-door neighbor union workers! Whew.

How unfortunate that they have destroyed your lovely clematis but on the other site your road will be reconstructed for the better. Hopefully everything will work smoothly and successfully.
