Time to Purge?
I got the kick in the butt that has been sorely needed. I am purging. Yep, I am going through our basement stuff to get rid of just about everything. Kids, if you are reading this, your stuff will be spared for another year or two. What brought all this about? Going through stuff that was not mine.
Yesterday, my husband and I helped a friend move her mother into a nursing home. The woman is 95 years old and was very willing to go, so that made our move much easier to handle. The actual, physical move was the chore. OMG! This woman had everything from 4 girdles to fat burner for men products! Why on earth does one woman need 4 girdles? Fortunately, my friend and I had generous amounts of humor as we picked through every box, cupboard and closet of this woman’s apartment. We laughed at how many sewing kits and plastic rain bonnets one needs. My friend tried to give me one of her mom’s rain bonnets. One might think this was a nice gesture but we had decided, when we were in our twenties, that the true meaning of getting old was signified by using a plastic rain bonnet. You will not find one of those on my head!
After a zillion bags for the trash, dumpster and storage, we finished. Our bodies are sore and tired. I don’t want my kids to have to wade through all my stuff. Getting rid of all my Beanie Babies would take a day! I don’t even want to think about them laughing while going through my Tupperware. Yikes.
