I love the silence myself, much more peaceful. My daughter often likes to listen to books on tape when she's traveling. I always remind her to use ear piece for the cell phone for safety, but prefer she not talk much while driving. I sometimes think kids don't realize driving does need attention, and that if there busy talking hour after hour, and singing to the music...there's not much attention given to the more important task which is the driving.
