Four Foods On Friday 69
I was looking at all the wonderful recipes Val has posted for Easter and discovered it is time for Four Foods On Friday. Yay, the weekend is almost here and I get to sew!
#1. Olive oil. What kind do you prefer to use?
I am so confused about which olive oil to buy. Hopefully, someone will tell me what kind I need to buy.
#2. Meatballs. Do you make them from scratch, buy premade cooked or buy premade frozen?
I buy them premade from Sams Club. I only think of them for holiday pitch-ins for some reason.
#3. Do you use napkins at home? Paper or cloth?
We use paper napkins. If I have Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at my house, I will use cloth napkins. I have some that look winter like.
#4. Share a recipe for a white sauce.
I make a white sauce to pour over salmon patties. I melt 1/4 cup of butter or margarine. Add a bit of flour and stir over medium/low heat until it begins to thicken. Slowly add 2 cups of milk. That is how I make white sauce for my pot pie too.

I’m with ya on the olive oil. I just buy something affordable and use it sparingly.

On the olive oil, I just buy extra virgin from Costco now. You can use it for all recipes that call for olive oil and if you buy it from Costco or Sams, it’s a lot cheaper than the small bottles at the grocery store. If you keep it in a dark cupboard, it will last a long time. Well not years, but reasonably long.

I was just in Sams last night, wish I had known they had these. I didn’t really go down the frozen food aisle though.
I like your white sauce, I don’t see cheese in it, that’s how I make mine

Extra virgin is healthier, I heard.
After reading several responses, I think I’m the only one who doesn’t own cloth napkins! I just buy holiday-themed paper napkins when we have holiday gatherings.

We like the taste of extra virgin olive oil and like the taste of Bertolli more than any other we’ve tried. We buy it at Sams. We use it on hot air popcorn, veggies, in salad dressing, etc.
Carina is right, extra virgin is healthier, and supposedly “first cold-pressed” (made without heat) is the best.

Extra virgin oil is great, In some regions, extra virgin oil is judged by a panel of experts for taste, mouth feel, and aroma. This oil tends to be most delicate.
