You Will Love Branson

Published by Karen at 3:23 pm under travel

One of the nicest vacations I had was when I visited Branson, Missouri. Branson is the live music show capital of the world. When I was there, I saw the Osmonds, Andy Williams and Yakov Smirnoff. Here is a picture of Andy Williams singing to my mother in-law. I thought she would never wash her hand! LOL

Andy Williams

They were great shows. I loved the small theater feeling. The theaters weren’t actually small but they were able to give the feeling that the performers were singing directly to me! Branson is so easy to get around so there isn’t the congested feeling you get in some touristy places.

The best way to have a great time in Branson is to park your belongings at a wonderful hotel like the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. Their Winter Escape Package will help you get through the dreary winter months. They will treat you so much like royalty that you won’t even care what the weather is doing back home. Their Annual Ice Carving festival is something to see and who knows, you might decide to participate in the 2009 Polar Plunge! This yearly event raises money for children and adults with mental disabilities.

The Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel is near everything you want to see. I especially enjoyed checking out the outlet mall shops. I stocked up on shorts and drooled over those “name brand purses”. You will love the delicious food at the restaurants in Branson. Branson has something for everyone.

My parents took us when we were little and we had so much fun. We went to Silver Dollar City, saw an Elvis impersonator and rode in a Duck!

Oh lucky mother in law lol. He is cute :P
The Polar Plunge kinda sounds scary lol but the ice carving festival sounds fun! I guess that would be like sand sculping comps they have in australia.

I love smaller venues too. Funny that in a big stadium you tend to end up paying more for a seat than a small club or hotel with the same act!

I went there with my grandparents when I was about 8 years old. I don’t remember anything about it, though… lol Sounds like you had a great time! Maybe I should go back now that I’m older. :)

I grew up watching the Andy Williams show – I think that was where I first saw the Jackson five and The Osmands, lol!

My mother was – to put it politely – difficult to please. I took her and Dad to see Ernest Tubb for her birthday one time. It was a small venue, a country and western bar. I slipped a note to one of the crew saying that it was Mom’s birthday and that she and Dad had courted to his music at barn dances and concerts some thiry years before. He sang “Waltz Across Texas” looking into her eyes. Only time in her life I was ever sure she liked a gift I gave her!

I’ve heard people say that seeing shows in Branson is great. I’ve never been- so I appreciate the pictures. I too enjoy small venues- it’s more intimate and you can see alot better!

I always like to read about visitors that have a great time in our town. As a Branson native, I have come to appreciate all the great people that bring their families to our town.

I hope you continue visiting and have as great a time on your next next trip!
