Sweeney Todd Movie

Published by under entertainment

PhotobucketMy daughter warned me. She said, “Mom, do not eat while watching that movie.” Now, what kind of movie would be so disgustingly bloody that you would not want to be eating a freshly baked Christmas cookie?

Last night, we watched Sweeney Todd. We had to! I love Johnny Depp and love his movies. I had heard that this one was all about revenge and that it had a lot of blood spurting here and there. I only saw a little of that. I had my eyes closed most of the time.

The story was about a man who had been undeservingly sent away because a man with power wanted to be rid of him. The man with the power was smitten by a women. Depp’s character had the woman and so he had to be sent away so the other man could have her. Sounds like a typical story doesn’t it?

It was an awesome movie with twists and turns at every corner. I had to listen intently to understand what was being said. I am not sure if that was due to my ability to hear or because they were speaking with English accents. Oh! I forgot to mention that Johnny Depp can sing! Who knew?

If you want to enjoy this movie, as I did, check out the sale prices of dvds at Buy.com. They have the movie as well as the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Just don’t eat spaghetti while watching this movie.

We Have a Problem

Published by under a bit of everything

PhotobucketI never thought I was a coffee addict. That was until yesterday when my coffee pot died. It won’t run a cycle of water through to make me a cup of coffee. I think what broke it was when I cleaned it on Thursday. All of that lime buildup must have been holding its innards together. Now it won’t work. That’s what I get for cleaning.

I am checking over the coffee makers at Buy.com because they always have a good sale on just about everything. I found my printer at such a great price that I had a bit of money to spare. I hadn’t planned to purchase a new coffee maker with that money. Grrrr

We have always had a Bunn coffee maker. I like how they make the coffee really fast. I am wondering though if I should get a Mr. Coffee coffee maker this time. I like that it has a programmable feature. It might be nice to wake up to coffee already made. What type of coffee maker do you use? Do you like being able to program it to make your coffee while you sleep? Do you have a coffee maker that doesn’t take up much space? I don’t have very much counter space. Thanks for your help.

Winter Wear Makes It Bearable

Published by under a bit of everything

What a wild day. I am so glad our work day is over. We weren’t able to get to the customers house today because a tree had fallen into their driveway. We had called to see how their area was before heading out but they had not noticed the tree had fallen. “rolling my eyes”

It started with the weather reports last night. I know not to trust the weather man down to the hour he predicts a storm because more times than not, he has been wrong. I refuse to plan my day because a storm “might” ruin it. However, it is best to be prepared just in case he is right. Buy.com had a good sale on winter wear.

I am not fond of cold weather and so I really bundle up. I am so glad I have a parka and warm gloves. My gloves are really made for snow skiing but I use them for every day running around. I would like to have a pair of warm boots. I have been drooling over the Women’s Earth Dakota Vegan boots. They have ripple traction soles. That is so important for a big clutz like me. They also have a fleece lining to keep my tootsies warm. Yes, I think I need these boots. I hope Santa brings me some Christmas money.

Printer Needed

Published by under business

PhotobucketMy printer has decided to not play nice. I tried to print our payroll checks this afternoon and the printer just sat there. I know I shouldn’t complain because my printer has been very reliable for about 4 years. I am just not wanting to buy a new one this time of year. It is a good thing that Buy.com is having a fantastic sale on all in one printers.

I like having a printer that prints in color automatically and that has a scan feature. I don’t have to use a copy machine when I can scan my papers. I am going to do a little checking on the price of ink cartridges and then decide which printer to buy. I am leaning towards the HP Deskjet F4280 All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer. It is small yet has all the features I need. Copy, Print and Scan and at an unbelievably low price. The only thing that I wish it offered was a picture setting.

I usually have my pictures printed online but once in awhile I need a picture for a project. It would be nice to be able to print it out when I need it. Hmmm I’m going back to Buy.com to check on some more printers.

Class Reunions Should Be at Home

Published by under entertainment

PhotobucketDo you go to your high school class reunion? My husband and I have attended most of our reunions because we live in the town where we went to school. That makes it easy for us to attend. I felt guilty when we didn’t attend and those who lived far away made the effort to come. Many took their vacation days from work so they could come back to our little podunk town. Whether they sold safety equipment in a small hardware or managed a large corporation, it was important to them. That was when hubby and I decided it was a good thing to attend.

Last year threw us for a loop. The destination for the reunion was Colorado. What the heck? We live in Indiana. I don’t know what made some of the people in the class think this would be a good idea. They didn’t ask us for our vote. I have not heard if the reunion was a success. I am all for getting together with former classmates. Plan a get together for a certain date but don’t call it our class reunion. High school class reunions should be held locally so that people can check out their old haunts. They can walk the halls of their old school. I think being in the town where you graduated is a part of the reunion process.

I have heard of people going on cruises for their reunion. Have any of you done this for your class reunion? I am curious to see if I am being old fashioned in my thinking.

Cozy Slippers from Buy.com

Published by under entertainment

PhotobucketWell, the mid-west is in a winter freeze. We have snow falling onto ice covered roads. The state police are advising that folks stay off the roads as much as possible. That is hard to do when you want to finish up your holiday shopping. I have another sale to check out and then I hope to be done with my gift buying. I cannot let the weather stop me from completing my tasks. My husband might think differently.

I would like nothing better than to put on my flannel jammies and a pair of slippers to keep my feet warm. I’d grab a cup of hot chocolate, put in a Michael Buble cd and curl up on the couch. My two little dogs would cuddle up to me and hope I’d share my hot chocolate with them. That does sound better than going out in a blizzard.

I have actually shopped more online this year. Buy.com is my favorite online shopping source. I have always checked out their weekly specials and hot deals and now they have holiday specials. Those specials include electronics, computers, toys, music, movies, jewelry, and so much more. So, if you find yourself looking for that last gift to put under the tree, be sure to check out Buy.com.

New Things for Blogs

PhotobucketI am having too much fun tonight! I added a Firefox add-on to my tool bar and I am going crazy looking at blogs. This add on makes links show up in blue if they pass juice. It is fun to see who lets my comments pass juice and who doesn’t. My findings don’t really matter because I leave comments on blog posts because I want to and not because I am trying to get a link. I do, however, find it interesting. Edit: The tool bar is NoDoFollow.

Anddddd!!!! Did you notice the new look of my blog? I have a third column and the picture on my header is bigger. I did it myself! I am amazed. Of course, this was only after my friend upgraded my blog to WP 2.7, which I love. 2.7 allows you to implement plugins from the dashboard. It also has a word counter right on the post box. This word is number 141. LOL Change is sometimes good.

Talented Artists at Buy.com

Published by under entertainment

PhotobucketDid anyone happen to watch the spectacular live performance of David Foster on PBS last night? It was amazing. I was watching while needing to get my dishes washed. I kept telling myself, “after this next song you have to wash those dishes.” The dishes were never done. He had one performer after another that blew me away with their talent. David Foster is music, understands music and loves music. He is a unique songwriter, composer and producer who has produced talent of such standards as Josh Groban and Michael Buble. He has enhanced the careers of rising stars like Charice Pempengco and Katharine McPhee.

I am at Buy.com shopping for some of the artists on last night’s program. I have Andrea Bocelli’s latest cd, Incanto, in my cart and am looking over the website for other sales like Michael Buble. Oh, and I absolutely have to have the new David Foster DVD “Hit Man”.

Oh, I just remembered that Michael Buble and Blake Shelton sang together on the show. That was awesome. To hear the song, “Home”, sung in a traditional manner and in country twang was interesting and I enjoyed it. Both of their voices were awesome in their own right and yet they blended together nicely. Okay, I am putting Buble, Celine Dion and Shelton cd’s in my cart. It is a good thing that Buy.com has great prices.
