Ah, the Holidays
For months I have been working on buying gifts that would make each recipient smile, thinking of groceries I needed to buy and beds to get ready. All too quickly it is coming to an end. Wow. We had such a nice time visiting with the kids and the rest of our family. We worked hard to remember my brother in-law’s passing on Tuesday yet not let it cast a black cloud over our moods. That is what Doug would have wanted. He really loved Christmas.
We opened gifts last night while Stacy, our daughter, was on the webcam. It felt as if she were right here with us. She took her turn opening gifts right along with us. She didn’t get to share our Chinese food but I heard that her ham was pretty tasty. She takes after her dad and is a great cook.
It sounds like all we do is eat and I think that might be because we DO eat all the time. Today we had a terrific brunch with a breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, bacon, eggs and toast. Our nephew and his girlfriend joined us. After we ate we watched a home video that was filmed around 20 years ago. OMG! We laughed so hard. I want to get out all of our videos and watch them. I need to find a way to put them on DVD’s.
This afternoon was spent trying to nap and working on a quilt. I hope that everyone had a blessed holiday.

Hi!
I’m one of your entrecard-droppers and I want to wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
Thanks for entrecarddropping!
I’m glad you guys got to celebrate the holidays. My husband was pushing for Chinese for dinner, but we ended up with roast beef sandwhiches. Ha.

Hey Karen, sounds as though you had a wonderful Christmas. Great idea of having a webcam going so you could be together with your daughter – it reminds me of the commercial where a family was watching their son and feeling sorry for him being alone on Christmas Day – when all of a sudden his girlfriend came into the picture and didn’t know she was on the webcam too!!! It was hilarious.
That’s so funny you watched an old family movie! We watched one from summer boating in 1987 and our kids LOVED it! It was such a nice ‘family bonding’ time
and a good way to wrap up Christmas Eve after playing in the snow.
All the best in 2009!

While I know it was a sad time for your family it is good that everyone was thinking about what Doug would have wanted. That’s awesome that Stacy was able to get onto the webcam and have a virtual holiday visit.
Is that photo of Lynn? Is the puppy a Boxer? The face reminds me of my parents Boxer.

It is our tradition to have Chinese food on Christmas Eve.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment Val. Yes, that is my husband Lynn in the picture. He is holding our Boston Terrier, Elsie. She is rotten. LOL
Ok, share. Why is Elsie rotten?
Elsie is rotten because my husband feeds her people food. So, she is a beggar dog. She also has to be under the blanket while I am on the laptop. She has so many quirks and we accommodate her. LOL
Elsie sounds spoiled, not rotten! LOL.
