The Humane Society of the United States
I hope the Obamas choose a new puppy from the Humane Society. They will be showing so many people how to do the right thing. Mr. Obama and his wife Michelle had previously announced they would adopt the puppy they’d promised to their daughters. I hope they highlight the importance of adopting animals from shelters.
There are many ways to support the work of The HSUS. In addition to major and planned gifts and cash donations, there are a variety of matching and non-cash gift options for people interested in celebrating animals and confronting cruelty.
The Humane Society of the United States has teamed up with Microsoft to be a part of i’m™, a new initiative from Windows Live Messenger and now, Windows Live Hotmail! Each time you send a message using Windows Live Messenger or Windows Live Hotmail, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes, including The Humane Society of the United States. All you have to do is sign up! It’s so easy! Click here for step-by-step instructions. Make sure you follow the steps to choose The HSUS as your cause!

I really hope they do, too. In a news conference last week, Obama said they would because he wanted to get a “mutt” like him. I thought that was cute and funny.
That would be great if they did!
I hope they adopt, too, it would set a great example!

I hope they go to a shelter or a rescue for their dog. At least it’s in consideration. Since they have to consider allergies, they could always find a great dog at a rescue for breeds like Schnauzers, Poodles etc.. that are great dogs for allergies.
It would be a great example since it will get alot of press

Whether they adopt or buy a dog, I just hope that they can take care of the dog.
Hopefully they can find a good non-allergenic dog at the shelter but that could be difficult.
i hope they do too. we always get our pets from the humane society. i can’t fathom buying a pet from a pet store when there are there are so many that will be put to sleep if they’re not adopted.

Adopting from a shelter is always the right thing to do. Puppy mills and pet shops are terrible things. Granted, those pets need homes, too, but the less people buy from them, the less pets there will be in those places. I have a shelter kitty and she is a blessing to our lives.
I’m sure they will adopt their new puppy. How couldn’t they with all the media making such a giant deal about it?
