I took them in high school but I still suffer from allergies. I gave up the shots when I went away to college–too difficult to afford and administer.

I hope they work out for you. Allergies SUCK!

Aw, your poor daughter. Allergies are no fun. I waited til my 50′s to get the shots. Headaches everyday is great motivation.

It’s good to hear that shots actually do work. My younger dd suffers terribly from allergies. Her Allergist is against shots as I am because she fears injections so much. But, maybe when she is older she’ll be more willing to get them and not suffer so much.

That stinks that you have to keep taking them, but I can tell that you’ve been a lot happier not dealing with those headaches. You sure did get them a lot!

Ah! well that make me feel like it will be worth the hassle. My husband gives me the shots each week and I have to go into the office every 7 weeks. Thanks for your input. I REALLY do appreciate it.

I had them for 5 years back in the early 90s. It really and truly helped with my migraines. You are right about the hassles though. Hard to work in a visit every single week. Back then, after about two years, I was able to get them to train my husband how to do it and let me take them home to administer them. Then I only had to go once a month.

I don’t know if they do that anymore.

The shots themselves are not so bad. It is the hassle of getting them every week that gets old.

No, never had the “pleasure” of allergy shots, but everything BUT! (I’m basically allergic to EVERYTHING outside!) I fought back against my allergist when he suggested them, and lately, with the ragweed count being so high, almost regretting it. Sorry you’re ailing, but thanks for the reminder as to why I didn’t want the shots in the first place!

I had the testing in highschool and the shots were recommended, but there was no way I could have made it to the doctor every week (school, sports, work, and no car of my own), so I decided against it. Once I moved away to college, my allergies left completely and I haven’t had any problems since.
