Magnetic Action Game Is Fun

PhotobucketI love receiving packages in the mail. I especially love receiving packages when they are games I get to review. This happened just this week when I received the strategy game Jishaku. The first thing I think of when I hear the word strategy, is that the game is going to be hard. This game is not hard and in fact is geared towards everyone beginning at age 8. The game has small parts so you really need to keep it out of the hands and mouths of babes.

The game is fun when two people use their strategy against each other. A foam playing field is where the excitement takes place. Strategically placing your stone, which is what each game piece is called, where it is not going to be overpowered by your opponent’s stone is how you gain control in order to win the game. Each piece is actually magnetic. If you know anything about magnets, you know that a magnet has south and north poles. That means that the game pieces have a south and north pole or in scientific terms, a negative and a positive pole. The trick or strategy involved is figuring out which stone has which magnetic pull. The stones are not marked and so it is fun to see which one might pull your opponent’s stone over to yours. When that happens, the stone becomes yours. The person who gains the most stones is the winner. The unpredictability of the force field make this game crazy!

Be sure you aren’t drinking any beverages while playing this game. You will surely spew your mouthful of drink the first time the stones start jumping. It is crazy to see how the magnetic pull effects each other’s stones.

This game is easy, fun and teaches your kids about magnets and magnetic pull.

You can watch the video and see how the game is played over at the Play Jishaku website. Parents might want to watch the video to see if it is appropriate for their children to view. (My husband loved the outfits worn by the demonstrators of the game.)

Thanks Jishaku for letting me review this game. It will be fun to bring out this game when we have friends over who have children in the 8 to 14 age group. I don’t think hubby and I will be wearing out the stones but children will love the game. At the $19.95 price, it is a great game for grandparents to keep on the shelf.
