It's great that we're all starting to think more on the healthy sides of things - less fast, processed foods and more healthy foods! You're right, I just came off a road trip myself, and I was stopping every few hours for a combos snack and a mountain dew. But I guess that's how it goes when you get out of your routine.

As far as taking vitamin B12, it's probably not all that necessary. I've had a bit of experience in medical biochemistry and I'm positive that you don't need a B12 supplement unless your doctor indicates that you do.

What I mean is...taking in more B12 than your body actually needs has no effect. In fact, you only really need micrograms of the stuff per day. Unless you're a vegetarian, you're probably not deficient in B12 since it's only found in animal products.

Then again, if you're over 50, it's generally recommended to get your B12 levels checked regularly by a doctor because this is when B12 absorption begins to decline.

As a matter of fact, B12 deficiencies are rarely caused by insufficient dietary intake, but instead problems absorbing the vitamin.

I've written a page <a href="http://www.smart-strength-training.com/vitamin-b12-information.html" rel="nofollow">all about vitamin B12</a> with all of this info (and a lot more) - check it out if you like. Hope this helps!
