The Timeline of Games

Published by at 10:30 pm under a bit of everything

PhotobucketI miss the days of playing cards with the neighbors. When Lynn and I were first married, we lived next door to another young couple. We found out that they enjoyed playing Euchre and we became engrossed with playing every weekend.

When my kids were little we played Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders. It was more than playing games. It was how we taught the kids how to lose and how to be gracious about winning. There were tears and laughter. Sometimes we caught cheaters. That was a good lesson learned. When the kids graduated to Playstation 3, I was lost. My reaction time couldn’t keep up and I let them have their own fun. I still tense up when they yell at the game. That is the only part I play. The kids like to play Euchre now and so, I suppose, we have come full circle.

Oh, Candyland was totally one of my favorite games. I’ll have to see if my Mom still has it next time I go over to her house.
