Four Foods On Friday #24
Vall, over at Fun, Crafts and Recipes, has asked her weekly food questions. As a way to get bloggers to get to know each other, Val offers this fun meme. It is amazing how much each participant has in common and does things the same and yet each adds a different spin on something and so we each learn something new each week. If you would like to meet some nice bloggers and have some fun, head over to Fun, Crafts and Recipes.
Here are this weeks questions along with my answers.
#1. What’s your favorite food smell? I love the smell of vanilla. I was shocked, as a child, to learn it does not taste as good as it smells.
#2. What’s your favorite kind of apple? I like to make pies with cortland apples. They stay firm but get a little soft when baked.
#3. What veggies do you like in your salad? carrots
#4. Share a recipe that uses beef.
I like to make my own version of Italian beef. I marinate a piece of flank steak in a small bottle of Italian salad dressing. I marinate it overnight and take it out of the refrigerator about a half hour before I cook it. Then I grill it on the gas grill. Yummy!

I never realized there was that many types of apples. . . I guess it must be the same with our mangoes or bananas or guavas. Yeah, apples are quiet expensive here and we enjoy that luxury only during the holidays and also because there lots and lots of other fruits that are soooo good!!!

I have never heard of cortland apples. May be there would be some peculiar name for mangoes, bananas and other fruits also. By the way the recipe of the beef sounds interesting and hope it would take less time in preparation.
I think it’s the Vanilla that makes cookies smell so good when they’re baking!
I like the smell of vanilla and like many things that have it as an ingredient but I’ve never tried it by itself.
Thanks for playing Four Foods On Friday.
Stumbled.
Italian dressing’s a *great* marinade. It tenderizes the meat really well and infuses it with great flavors. It’s also usually cheaper to buy a bottle of that than “proper” marinades, too!

One of my clients is a high end manufacturer of vanilla, and I’ve been adding it to EVERYTHING lately. Tomato sauce, vanilla sugar, honey butter…There are tons of different kinds of vanilla to use in different recipes.
