Tainted Eggs at Hobby Lobby

Published by Karen at 2:58 pm under business, health

As a business owner, I know how awful it is when something goes wrong. I only want happy customers. Sometimes though, no matter how hard you try, things happen. I give Hobby Lobby credit for getting the word out about some problems products they have sold. I received the following email and want everyone to be aware of this recall:

March 2008
Dear Hobby Lobby Customer:

On behalf of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., I want to assure you that product safety is our highest priority. For that reason, I want to let you know that we recently learned that two items sold at our stores from approximately January 1, 2008 through March 15, 2008, an Easter Spinning Egg Top (item number 1054) and a package of 8 Camouflage Eggs (item number 1031), have a paint surface coating with a lead content exceeding limits allowed by the federal government. The items were manufactured in China, and Hobby Lobby purchased a total of 13,032 units combined for sale in Hobby Lobby retail stores.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Hobby Lobby is voluntarily recalling both items. The Easter Spinning Egg Tops are multi-colored and come with a rip cord. The packages of 8 Camouflage Eggs are green, brown, and white.

The Easter Spinning Egg Tops have a retail price of $1.99 and the package of 8 Camouflage Eggs have a retail price of $2.49. Both items were sold at Hobby Lobby stores nationwide between January 1, 2008 and March 15, 2008.

If you have any of the recalled items please take them away from children immediately and return them to the nearest Hobby Lobby store and receive a $3 exchange card.

On behalf of Hobby Lobby, I sincerely apologize for any concern this recall may cause and for any inconvenience to you. The safety of our customers is our overriding concern. We hope that you will continue to enjoy our products with confidence.
If you have any further questions, visit your nearest Hobby Lobby store or call our toll free telephone number at 1-800-326-7931.
Sincerely,
David Green, CEO
