Lunar Eclipse
At 10:00 pm my sweet son called to remind me to go outside and look at the lunar eclipse. What an amazing sight. What was cool was that we were both looking at the same thing even though we are in different states. Oh, back to the eclipse before I start singing “Somewhere Out There.” I hate to get that song stuck in my head.
Even though there were two last year, we won’t see another total lunar eclipse until 2010 so I am glad I got the chance to see this one. Skywatchers viewing through a telescope had the added treat of seeing Saturn’s handsome rings. They also saw Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo. We don’t have a telescope so I missed those amazing views. I was wondering what it is that you have to be careful of viewing without special eyewear. My memory fails me on that one. Maybe, it is an eclipse of the sun. Someone help me out here, please.
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon passes into Earth’s shadow and is blocked from the sun’s rays that normally illuminate it.

Hi Karen!
I had to laugh because I also had “Somewhere Out There” in my mind while reading your post….and will probably be singing it all day
Jordan and I watched the lunar eclipse last night too - we had a nice clear night for vewing, although no telescope.
