Over the years, we have grown accustomed to things being made smaller. I am not sure why. When things are small, I tend to lose them. I found a fun website, www.GreatBigStuff.com, that is having fun offering big items. Their things are great for decorating dorm rooms, kids bedrooms or for simply having fun. I am always drawn to things that are usually known for being small but are made large as a way to get things noticed. For instance, take a look at this cool pencil in my picture. Would that not make a fun teacher’s gift? I think any teacher would love to utilize that in their classroom. There are many great ideas for visual aids as well as just fun things to have around. This site is just plain fun!

I have so many bracelets yet never wear them. Today, I decided to wear the one I received when I attended a church retreat. I like it because each bead stands for something meaningful. It also doesn’t move around and drive me bananas!
The beads on my bracelet mean the following to me:
Red: the blood Jesus shed for us
white: forgiveness
green: the earth and our growth
blue: our birth from baptism
black: sin washed away
gold: heaven as our reward for trusting in him

Hubby and I did a bit of shopping today and I am exhausted. I know why older people prefer to stay home instead of running all over creation everyday the way I used to do. I am so tired that it is ridiculous.
I did find some great bargains today. The first of the year is a good time to stock up on outdoor lighting and decorations for next year.
I looked all over for a neti pot but couldn’t find one. Everyone who listened to Dr. Oz on Oprah must have rushed out to buy one. The pharmacists at two stores said they have been sold out for two weeks. Everyone, except me, must have clean sinuses.

Another wonderful thing about blogging is the wonderful people I have met. You may have noticed that Photo-A-Day box on my sidebar. It adds awesome pictures to my blog each day. The photographer is THE talented Drew Bennett. I wasn’t getting enough of his photos so I ordered one of his calendars to hang in my office.
While reading Robyn’s blog The Restaurant Hopper, I read that Drew is going to be in Chicago and then coming to Indiana. Well, I jumped right on that information and did a little sleuthing to find out just where in Indiana Mr. Drew is going to be. He will be 20 minutes from my house!!! Seriously, I didn’t have to put my sleuthing skills to work. I simply asked Drew where he was going to be and we tried to make plans for lunch or something. Unfortunately, he only has a few hours of free time and that is when I will be working. All is not lost. He is going to stop by! I can’t wait to catch up on what he has been doing. Drew and I participated on a panel in Vegas. I hope he brings more pictures of his little cutie, Eva.
Now tell me, would you meet up with someone you met on the Internet if he looked like this?

Having access to many companies who advertise business cards can be overwhelming. I have found that a good way to narrow down my choices is to find one that is simple. Simple is good!

I am telling the truth when I say that chocolate mint chip ice cream is the cure for headaches. I needed some today. I finally got rid of my headache at around 7 this evening. I think I could have aced it earlier if I’d had some ice cream.

I joined a new meme on my Winding Threads blog. I try to put my sewing projects on that blog. The new meme is called Sew Crafty Friday. I think it will keep me motivated to work on my projects. Going to the blogs of the participants of the meme has made me want to start even more things. There was a beautiful jean purse on one of the blogs that I would love to make. Oh my. There is not enough time!

We all want to be on the cutting edge as far as technology goes. My kids are always finding the coolest ring tones and putting them with the numbers in their phone books. It is so funny, which ring tones they assign to each person.

Today is brownie making day! Our church’s men’s fellowship group has a dinner once a year. It is held to reach out to men and show them the great community and fellowship that the guys in our church have. The cook the little bunnies, oops, I mean rabbits, all day long. They make mashed potatoes, green beans and used to have the ladies donate pies. That was until the year I made brownies.
They loved the brownies so much that I was asked to make the brownies each year from then on. I used to make them all in my kitchen. It took a few days to make over 500 brownies. I reaped the benefits of getting to lick the batters though. Ha!
Our church bought the old fire station that is located across the street. The building was renovated and now is a community center with a full commercial kitchen. My husband and I are going over in a few minutes to make 500 brownies. It will take most of today but that is better than a few days of mess. See ya later!

When our son, Greg, was a freshman in college, he lived in the dorm. That was an interesting experience. His roommate thought it was fun to have marijuana parties on the weekends. Greg told that kid that there were plenty of apartments for rent in the area if he was willing to risk being kicked out of school. The college that Stacy attended didn’t offer any housing and she lived in an apartment.
If Lynn and I had been smart and if we would have had the money, we would have or should have, bought a house in Indianapolis for our kids to live in while they attended college. We would have a good investment even now that they are out of school because rentals in college towns are easy to fill.
Since we don’t live in Indianapolis, I would rely on a company noted for helping people find apartments suited for their needs. Whether you are looking for Nashville Apartments or Indianapolis apartments, Apartment Finder is a great source. With their search feature, you can use keywords like military or college to narrow down your choices. You can also enter an address to find an apartment in a certain area. This nationally recognized company is there to help you. Let them show you how easy it can be to find the perfect apartment.
