When I think of winter I usually think of how much I dislike it. I hate having to bundle up to go to the mailbox. It is more hassle than I want! As I have gotten older and found that I have osteoporosis, winter has other distasteful attributes. I find the slippery sidewalks and roads to be treacherous. I never felt that way until I realized how much a broken bone changes your life style. Last year at this time, I was laying on the couch in two surgical boots. It was not a fun winter.
Hubby and I try to make plans to do something fun each winter. It helps my outlook to have something to look forward to. I have fond memories of our Carnival cruises. We went on a cruise with our close friends, Linda and Ron. That was a fun time. I love to look at pictures from that trip. The ships are awesome.
This year we hope to drive to Florida to visit our daughter. I think we are going to enjoy having someone to visit in the winter. Especially since she lives where it is usually 40 degrees warmer than here in Indiana.

I have been hearing many people say that they are upset because it is not politically correct to say Merry Christmas. Instead, many are instructed by their employers to say Happy Holidays. Happy Holidays is thought to be ok because it doesn’t imply a religious connotation. I thought it was funny and enlightening to read a fellow bloggers post on the subject. Gary has a few words to say in his post titled Do “Christmas People Actually Know the Origin of the Word Holiday?” It is a very interesting post.

It seems like I am a day late but here is a fun meme!
Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. Hot chocolate. With marshmallows or without? I love to add marshmallows to my hot chocolate. It is fun to try to catch them.
#2. What is your favorite ice cream? I absolutely love Atz Chocolate Mint Chip. I swear it can make a migraine disappear.
#3. What is your favorite candy bar? Don’t leave a PayDay laying around or it is mine!
#4. Name something you make with creamed corn in it, and how you make it. I make scalloped corn. It is a simple thing to make. I add a can of creamed corn to a box of Jiffy cornbread mix, a 1/4 cup of milk and an egg. Bake it for 30 minutes at 350° and there you have it!
If you enjoyed this you should participate! Head over to Valmg’s blog and leave her a comment letting her know you are participating. You can copy the questions from her blog. Have fun!

I am so curious to find out what the kids got me for Christmas. I am not good at waiting. They told me two weeks ago that I am really going to like “it”. I have no idea what “it” could be. I have hinted about a gold bangle bracelet but then I did say I needed some sewing machine attachments. They have been good about keeping my music DVD selection updated. If it weren’t for them, I would still be listening to Air Supply. What could it be?

I feel like I must be forgetting something. I am not at the mall today. I have been sewing on a new quilt. I thought I had all the blocks cut but ran out. That is why I hate to stop when I am sewing. It takes me forever to get back into the groove. The last blocks are cut and ready to be put together.
Lynn made a pot roast for dinner. There is nothing that makes me feel cozier than to sit down to a plate of pot roast, potatoes and carrots. He even made crescent rolls. It was yummy but now it is gone so back to the sewing machine I go!

My son disappointed me last night. I thought he was the biggest, baddest wing eater and he shocked me. He ordered a burger! LOL
We tried the newest restaurant in our area. The kids had gone to the airport to pick up their cousin and were on their way to the restaurant. Lynn and I got there early and as we waited, we talked about how Greg would love that our town has a new place to get wings. We wondered which wings he would order. That kid is always tripping us up! Ha!

is driving me nuts. I have to force myself not to wash my car. It is futile when we have snow. The plows have pushed the snow into our driveway and then the salt trucks spread all that stuff everywhere to keep the roads from being so slick. Then there is all the sand they drop at every intersection and on the bridges. I need car covers on my car and Lynn’s truck so that the mess doesn’t destroy the paint. Our temperatures have been so cold that I don’t dare wash the car because the doors will freeze shut. Oh the joys of winter. I wish it would snow on Christmas day and be over.

I went shopping with my kids yesterday. I should have waited to buy them anything for Christmas. I got so many ideas of things they like just by walking through the stores with them. When they were little, I could grab what they were admiring and stick it in the cart under our coats and they were none the wiser. They were always fiddling with stuff at the cash register area and usually never noticed that I was paying for something they had shown me. These days it is so much harder to be sneaky. I don’t want to go shopping without them but they follow me around the store like little baby ducks. Oh well. Perhaps the things they were admiring will be marked down in price after Christmas.

Our friends gave Lynn a tin of peanut brittle. It is so good that I am having trouble staying out of it. I am going to have to stop using our treadmill as a place to hang clothes to dry. I need to start walking on it again. How do you get motivated to exercise? I can’t seem to make myself do it.
