Speech Team Visits Charlotte
It does not seem possible that it has been 5 years since my sister and I accompanied Greg and and the other high school speech team members to Charlotte, North Carolina for the National Speech Convention. We had such a good time. Lynne and I didn’t have to be with the team for every event so we were able to play tourist and check out Charlotte. Charlotte is one of the easiest cities in which to get around. The city was planned with grids marking the directions as early as 1775. It was very easy to find our favorite scrap booking store. The big sign for a Charlotte cosmetic dentist was our cue that our turn was coming up. We even found the convention center where Greg’s team had their final round. I don’t know if it was because the town was planned with such careful navigation in mind or if we just knew where we were going. I think we amazed ourselves!
Our favorite time of the day was when we were able to get up at any time we chose and wander down to the lobby. We fixed ourselves a waffle and had our first cup of coffee out by the pool. There was a gazebo out by the pool that made a nice setting to sit and read. We would venture out for a little sight seeing and then go see how the speech team was getting along. Our evenings were spent searching for a different restaurant to try. The kids were worn out each day but Lynne and I had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Not a bad deal when you consider we were traveling with 6 teenagers!

I look back to things 5 years ago and ask if it’s really been that long…time is weird. Sounds like a great trip and The Carolinas are beautiful
I agree Matt. Time goes by quickly. That is why it is important to hug everyone and eat lots of chocolate while we can!
