Slanted View Gains Support
I had every intention of heading to bed early last night when I started reading a post on Matt Cutts blog. He is in charge of several things at Google, one being page rank. When asked why Google cut page ranks, he had a bit to say.
I was disgusted at the blog Cutts used as an example of we bloggers who write paid posts. That particular blog was in the group of those that, hopefully, RR will devalue their blog. He would not get the support in his comments if he used a well written blog by one of our great bloggers. There are many well written blogs. It was careful planning that he picked such an inferior blog to use as his example. Just another example of manipulation by Google.
He skirted around the issue of how some blogs can advertise in their posts and not lose page rank. He said that those are sponsored posts. Hmmm? If it weren’t so ridiculous I could get angry. His comment:
I believe Google’s algorithms do a good job on those “thank sponsors”-type posts, so we haven’t spent as much time talking about those. In general, if someone is paid for a link, that link should be done in a way that doesn’t affect search engines.
Yep, he says to use no follow (done in a way that doesn’t affect search engines) but he doesn’t rob them of their page rank if they don’t. It’s just us little guys who he is robbing.
Also, his example of searching for information on radiosurgery leading to that blog is very misleading. He doesn’t give the public enough credit to make decisions on their own. Duh! I think I’ll ask my doctor to read that blog and get educated on gamma knives. rolling my eyes

Thanks for the overview. Yeah, googoo is just not using very good logic about this. they are seeing what they want to and trying to make excuses for punishing us little guys.
