Don’t Bruise the Bananas

Published by under a bit of everything

How many times do you scratch your head and try to think of something to buy for the person who has everything? I think it is really hard to buy wedding gifts for couples who have lived in their own homes already.
I have found the perfect gift! Everyone can use a Banana Bunker!

We should all take care of our Bananas. They don’t deserve to be bruised.

Quality Boots

Published by under a bit of everything

The men I know want comfort for their hard working feet. My husband, Lynn, wears his work shoes all day and would wear them at night except they always have holes in the toes. The way he crosses his legs when he installs carpet takes a toll on his work shoes. His friend Jack is the opposite with his shoes. He wears work boots all day and can’t wait to get home and change into everyday shoes!

I wonder if Jack would get a good pair of Carolina boots if his feet would be more comfortable at the end of the work day. It is important to have shoes and boots that fit well. Metboots.com certainly has a big enough selection that he should be able to get a better pair than he is wearing. The boots they sell are the best quality at low prices. They even offer free shipping for orders over $100!
It amazes me that when I wear heels or shoes that aren’t comfortable, I am sluggish but when I wear a good pair of well fitted shoes, I have loads of energy.

Wikipedia is a Fluff Site

Some editing is taking place that makes an article less credible than what we are led to believe we are reading at Wikipedia. So, check your sources and don’t rely on Wikipedia if you are expecting the whole story and nothing but the truth. Editing is being done on some websites as readers find that they don’t like what is being told about them or their company. Or, they add some information that makes their company look better. I guess they aren’t aware that an IP address is noted when they log onto a site. It is public knowledge who is doing the editing. Ha!

As a business who relys on a website to maintain contact with customers, it is important to be noticed by the search engines. When someone searches for your product, it is important for them to enter it in the search engine and have your website appear on the front page of the results. It isn’t a good idea to just wait and see if your website makes it to the front page. You need to know how to get search engine optimization. Submit A Website is a search engine optimization company. They know how to optimize your site by building links that increase your blog’s popularity. A websites link popularity can also help you with bring visitors or prospective customers. That means increasing sales!

Another way to optimize your website is by using a text link service. Submit A Website describes in depth, on their website, how a text link advertising program incorporates some of the most popular websites on the Internet and why this is advantageous for your website.

Another way to market your website is by issuing a press release about what your company is doing or a new product that you are offering. It’s like my husband, the carpet installer, says, let me lay the carpet and let the plumber install the pipes. In other words, do what you are good at and leave the other things, like search engine optimization, for the professionals. You’ll have fewer headaches.

Blog Day!

Published by under a bit of everything

Today is the third annual Blog Day! BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. By picking blogs of people who are from different countries, have different cultures or even different views than I do, I can get to know someone new. It is fun to meet new bloggers and read their blogs.

I hope you will participate in Blog Day!

Ok, now for the new blogs I have added to my favorite readers list. I chose Bucky’s Barbecue Blog because I love everything that is barbecued and there are some wonderful pictures of food on that blog.

I’ve added Tonya’s Lazy Gal Quilting blog. She is an American living in Paris!

From Tonya’s blog I found Tracy. Her And Sew It Is blog is sew interesting! Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun.

I added Speak Up because it is so different from anything I read. Little tidbits of information and a peek into a different persons life is what I think I will gain from reading this blog.

Last but not least is the the Free Sample Forager blog. I noted that one day the owner of this blog checked out my site and I wondered who it was so I checked it out. Bloggers do that! I love this site where you can find all kinds of free things.

Search and Win

I want to let everyone I know in on a great Search and Win website. It is so easy to win Nintendo Wii’s, Apple iPods, Amazon gift cards, USB Drives, $2 Bills and more. The website is called Search Worm and here is how it works.
Search Worm is based out of Michigan and works just like any other search engine. They have random drawings every day and at random times. So if you did a search during that time your name is in the pot and you could be picked to win!
The website also has forums where you can meet people and chat. There is also a community section and video sharing.
www.searchworm.com, SearchWorm.com – Search and Win, is waiting to pick your name! You might win a new USB travel drive or cash! You need to download the toolbar and start searching!

Same Name

Published by under a bit of everything

The funniest thing happened when a couple in our town put an announcement in the local newspaper announcing their 25th wedding anniversary. A friend who lives in our town, saw the announcement and remembered that when she lived in Wisconsin, there was a couple with the very same names. Both couples have the same first and last names! The friend wrote to her acquaintances in Wisconsin and got the two couple together. They have become friends and get together often. Isn’t that cool?

Do You Use LED Christmas Lights?

Published by under a bit of everything

Have you ever wondered how they keep all the lights on the White House Christmas tree lit? Is it someone’s job to watch and replace a bulb every time one goes out? I don’t think so. It is more likely that the staff uses LED Christmas lights.

When Greg moved into his apartment a few weeks ago we made a trip to the store. He needed some cleaning supplies and he picked up packages of led light bulbs. I questioned him and pointed out that the apartment lamps and fixtures already had light bulbs. He said he wanted the led bulbs because they use less energy and last longer. He is thinking about those bills he is responsible for now. So he replaced all the bulbs with led bulbs. I asked him if I could take the bulbs from the apartment to use and he said no. He said that the led bulbs will last at least the two years he will be in that apartment! He plans on taking them with him when he finishes school. LOL They will be easy to box up and pack because they are nearly indestructible because there is no filament and the LED bulb is encased in a hard plastic.

I thought it would be interesting to do a bit of research on LED holiday lighting and see if that would be a better choice for us. I found that LED lights are safer and are UL approved for end-to-end connection of over 1/2 mile of lights. That must be why the White House uses them! I’m glad they are conserving the tax payers money and staying safe.

A Kid and a Camera

Published by under a bit of everything

It is very easy to teach children how to use a camera these days. There is no worry about the money being spent on film and developing.

A good digital camera for children is one that can be held easily in small hands. A large lcd screen is usually best. Start with general settings and play around with taking pictures in different lighting. Show the child the differences in taking up close shots and landscape photography.

Taking pictures is a great way to share time with children.

Vintage Apron Website

Published by under a bit of everything

I am so excited! We are going to our son’s this weekend. We have to drive through Indianapolis on our way and I just found the coolest website for kitchen aprons. I’m always thinking ahead and I think these particular aprons would make terrific Christmas gifts! These aren’t just any aprons mind you. They are vintage! I know they are going to be a hit. I just need to count how many I need! Check out the Jesse Steele website to find a store close to you.
I love the way this business got started. Helena Steele was a collector of vintage aprons. From the website: She visualized it was possible to preserve their heirloom characteristics while giving them a uniquely 21 st Century fit and appeal. It was time to re-focus on friends and family, and revive the fun of the “hostess” party.

Helena shared her vision with Claire Steele, her daughter, a former model and fashion expert. Helena proposed that they bring their talents together to create vintage aprons that would both reflect the retro whimsy of the 1940′s and 50′s and meet the challenging needs of today’s woman. Claire enthusiastically agreed, and Jessie Steele fine hostess aprons was conceived. You can check out the website for the rest of the story about how these aprons in their vibrant colors and flirty patterns are, “taking the country by storm!”
These aprons have been worn by Oprah and those racy desperate housewives!
I have to have one!
